1989 Dodge Dynasty LE 3.3
Summary:
Comfortable, but poorly designed
Faults:
The problems with the car I had could be from the previous owner's lack of care.
Within the first day I had it, I had all the colors of smoke; black smoke, blue smoke and white smoke. The engine needed a complete rebuild, which cost me well over a grand in parts. Within two weeks of having the engine rebuilt, my transmission went out. It was stuck in second gear and would not move. That job cost me well over a grand. About the time I got it back from the shop, it wouldn't pass emissions, so, I had to replace the O2 sensor and had to have a new exhaust installed with catalytic converter. It still wouldn't pass. I had to plate my car at my grandfather's place where there was no emissions. After I had the exhaust replaced, my passenger side door speaker blew. I just disconnected the wire. I eventually replaced all the speakers because they all slowly went. Shortly after that, my heater core went in the middle of the winter. More money out of my pocket. The alignment was horrible, I had so much play in my steering. I had the car aligned and it wasn't even a month later, my car's steering was back the way it was before.
General Comments:
The car had decent acceleration. Definitely nothing to brag about. Let's face it, it looks like something and old lady would drive to church.
Seats are pretty comfortable. A lot of my friends preferred my car when it came to long trips to the clubs.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I bought my 89 Dynasty 2.5 base from a guy who retired from Chrysler and was a scrapper. I bought 2 cars from him for $330.00, sold the bother car to a foreign car salvage yard for $350.00. The Dynasty had a weak trans he said, which it did.
I drove it that way for a few months, bought a trans out of a 92 Alliance and had a Dodge mechanic put it in for $250.00. I'm still driving it over 3 years later. I have put a used A/C compressor on it and new axles in.
It now has some electrical problems that need to be fixed, but has used only slightly over a quart of oil the entire time I've owned it.
A GOOD car for the money. My 2 cents worth.

We bought the car brand new in 89. It has been a great car. It spent 10 years on country roads and handled the high mileage driving with no issues. As for the looks of the car, that was easily taken care of. Simple tint of the windows, $20 chrome hubcaps, and a killer stereo the car soon turned into a hot car for out son to have. It is a great car that offers a lot for a low price. They are reliable as long as you take care of it.
