2000 Dodge Grand Caravan sport 3.3

Summary:

All in all good

Faults:

My van has front and rear A/C. The rear air blows very cold while the front air blows warm. It also has a hard start problem. Have taken it to dealership for the hard start and they couldn't find anything wrong. They said the only thing left to check would be the injectors.

General Comments:

Everything else with van is good. But being in the very hot weather the air is needed in front. Bought van used in Dec.05 so didn't check the air when I bought it.

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.8L HO

Summary:

Extremely practical, not built to last the way any Japanease car would be

Faults:

Power Steering Pump

Automatic Transmission x2

Rear Wheel Bearings

Tie Rod Ends x4

Stabilizer Bar Links x3

Read Wiper Motor

Washer Fluid Pump

Numerous Sensors causing stalling, still happening.

RUST, RUST, RUST. The rear wheel wells, the entire hood, edges of all doors, and the tailgate are all rusting. the rusting started in 2002.

ABS, some says they work, other days the light comes on and the fail.

Check Engine Light will come on, than turn off a few hundred miles later.

Headlights are useless, they are only acceptable on a clear night. during rain they barely lighten up anything. No other cars notice the difference when I leave my high beams on. The high beams barely lighten anyhting extra up.

Also front and rear shocks are desperately in need of replacement.

General Comments:

For a minivan it moves fast. All seats are comfortable. Very practicle, you can comfortably shove 7 people in, or close the trunk lid with a full sheet of plywood. It's evident the quality and craftsmanship of these vans has decreased from the previous generation. Stainless Steel exhaust was Chryslers best trate of the vehicle. Gas Mileage isn't great. the overall average mileage of the car is 15 mpg.

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.0

Summary:

One of the worse cars I have ever owned

Faults:

Timing belt went at 68,000 miles.

I had to replace the serpentine belt twice.

Rotors and brakes went twice within less than 5,000 miles.

The rear drum went bad (wheel bearings), the second one is going now.

Major oil leak from main gasket.

Shocks are starting to leak now.

I replaced the water pump as well.

After 1 year of ownership and 7,000 miles of driving, this van was nothing, but a money pit.

General Comments:

Comfortable drive, but not dependable.

Too much maintenance in short time, low miles.

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.0L SOHC V6

Summary:

It's a great car, and I couldn't ask for more from a minivan

Faults:

First of all, my biggest problem is the other people on this site who have done reviews, since everything they said, I don't know where it came from, it made no sense whatsoever, and I know a thing or two about cars, since I'm a mechanic.

Now here are the problems that are common on a car of this size. The brakes do wear out faster than usual, but that's because they're just too small for the size of the car, and they should be made bigger, especially the rear brakes.

The transmission, yes, is a big problem with this car, since it's known to break every 4 years, and by break I mean it needs replacement because of poor transmission design for the SIZE OF THE CAR AND THE POWER.

We had to replace the serpentine belt only once, and way past the day it was supposed to be replaced, and we never had a problem with it slipping off, and I don't really believe that comment, since I never saw it happen on any car to my knowledge, or knowledge of my mechanics teacher or people who I work with at the dealership. To all of you critics thinking I defend Dodge, no, I don't work at a Dodge dealership, and I could care less about them, but I do care what you people say about a perfectly good minivan.

General Comments:

This car runs great and performs well too.

I'm still pretty young (19), and to be honest this is my dad's car. If you knew things I've done in this car, you would be impressed too, especially because it still hasn't fallen apart haha!!!

The biggest problem I have with it, is that I don't have any problems with it at all. From what I can see, usually on this site, when I read reviews, it's pretty much dead on to the real problems of a car, but the reviews about the 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan ARE COMPLETELY WRONG, and I think someone said wrong things, and people who don't like Dodge, but drive them, just decided to repeat what that first person said.
