2002 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8
Summary:
Incredible turning radius and is fun and comfortable to drive, but is remarkably unreliable.
Faults:
If right turn signal is pushed into position, the left one blinks.
Wiper fluid onto the windshield does not function. High beams come on instead.
High beams no longer work unless pull back VERY hard.
When shifting into either drive or reverse, the vehicle hesitates and sometimes after several tries still does not want go.
Vehicle "died" after driving it. After it was jump-started, the dash lights blinked and gave a light show.
General Comments:
The dealership mechanic area counter-woman stated that "as long as the lights come on in the right order, it doesn't make a difference". It still does it and the Dodge dealership "cannot duplicate the problem". This translates into NOT fixing it.
That first paragraph can be repeated many times. The dealership needs to "duplicate the problem" in order to fix ANYthing. Thus, NONE of the problems associated with the directional/high beam/wiper fluid stick has been addressed.
As for the transmission problem, I haven't even bothered to take it to the dealership. I have an extended warranty, but I would not suggest that anyone else purchase such a thing.
The dash light problem was fixed by replacing the battery. I had only owned the vehicle, which I purchased used, for four and one half months. I argued that a battery that is supposed to last for three years should be replaced by the dealership at no cost to me. They did not agree.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

Hi, I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport that I have had nothing, but troubles with. Powering steering has gone out a few times, along with sway bar and bushings being replaced many times. I have had it in for repair numerous times. I decided to call a lemon law attorney. I faxed him all my information on April 5,2005, I finally got a response from Chrysler saying that they will only give me $3,500.00. So, obviously I am stuck with this van. The lawyer told me to take the money and buy an extended warranty with it. I don't think this is very fair. So, all I get out of it, is a headache. My van just reached 38,000 miles. I have not signed any papers yet. I am wondering if I should contact Chrysler Headquarters myself. My attorney said that I cannot take them to court, because when I bought the van, I guess when I signed the papers, it says in there that I cannot take them to court. Then the attorney said that since I got the employee discount, that is why I am only being offered $3500.00. To me, that shouldn't matter. They are offering employee discounts now to everyone!!!Thanks for listening. Vanessa vanna31@wowway.com.
