1995 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.5 Litre
Summary:
It is a great looking car that performs well, but lacks quality
Faults:
The water pump leaked when the car was only 2 months old and was replaced under warranty.
The tie rod sway bar was replaced with a stronger one during the first year. This was at no cost and the service adviser at the dealer told me about this. I was experiencing no difficulties at the time.
The transmission cooling lines were replaced because they were leaking.
The air conditioner evaporator leaks refrigerant. The a/c compressor seized and snapped the drive belt. I replaced the belt and repaired the compressor. Now, I top up the system annually with "Duracool" refrigerant and the a/c works better than when it was new! I do it myself and it costs only $55 (Canadian) for two cans and that includes a disposable charge hose.
The timing belt was replaced at 235,000 km, which I'm told is amazing service for this engine. The water pump was replaced at the same time because it was leaking. Total cost of those repairs at Canadian Tire was $1100.
Right now, I am experiencing a no start problem. The dealer had the car for a week and claimed it started every time and that nothing is wrong.
General Comments:
It has been the best Chrysler vehicle that I have owned. It seems that I have had fewer problems than most and it still runs very well except for the starting problems that I have been experiencing recently. This will be my last Chrysler after driving them since 1979.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

When you try to start the car, does it not sound at all? In that case probably the Starter motor is weak. A check will probably show that the starter is good; but when the battery load kicks in, it fails often. I had this problem with two of my intrepids.
