1998 Dodge Intrepid 2.7L
Summary:
One big headache!
Faults:
At 37,000 miles transmission sensor went out. Covered under warranty.
At 42,000 miles fuel injector needed to be replaced. Not covered under warranty.
On hot days the car will not start after driving for 20-30 minutes. Will sometimes start again after 1 hour passes. This occurs at least 2-3 times a week!
Engine light comes on frequently for no reason?
At 48,000 miles electrical malfunctioning causing all lights to flicker. Drained the Battery. Not covered under warranty.
Burns too much oil. Needs 1 quart every 2 weeks.
At 56,000 miles 2.7L engine starts ticking sound. Dealer states I need a new engine and it will cost over $10,000. Not covered under extended Warranty (hmmm... how convenient).
Spent $4,200 rebuilding the engine.
At 58,000 Driver side window regulator broken.$185.00.
At 60,000 Passenger side Window regulator broken (coincidence? I don't think so.
Front and rear door seals frequently fall off and need to be pushed back on to the door frame, but always appear to be too small for the doors.
At 60,500 Rear driver side Window quit working all together.
At 61,000 Power flickering occurs again. What's next?
General Comments:
This car is a mechanical nightmare! One thing after another has gone wrong. Chrysler is well aware of it's defects, but fails to honor their customers safety or loyalty. Although this car is spacious and comfortable, do not buy an intrepid unless you would like it to be a permanent fixture in your driveway!
I Will never buy Chrysler again!!!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No
