2000 Dodge Intrepid

Summary:

Sounds like Bad News to me!

General Comments:

I was very interested in the 2000 Intrepid until I ran across one at a used car lot. The body was gorgeous, but was not being sold. When I asked why, the dealer told me that the engine was no good and finding a new one would be a difficult and expensive task. He told my that Chrysler had made the oil pan too small and that a lot of people were going to have this problem, Chrysler should do a recall. Then a ran across a beautiful 2000 Intrepid being sold for cheap, but after reading all these horrible reviews this car is apparently Bad News! Thanks guys for your comments. Hope that lawsuit works for you all.

Nothing major wrong with the car.

2000 Dodge Intrepid Base 2.7L V6

Summary:

Beware, this car could cost you your college education

Faults:

My engine has blown and the extended warranty through Daimler Chrysler refuses to pay for the repairs. I have been told that my timing chain tensioner went, and ruined my valves. The repair bill will be about $2,000 to rebuild my engine or about $4,000 for a used one. They are claiming that I did not change the oil often enough. I have changed the oil once since my purchase. I do have some of the previous owners receipts though.

General Comments:

I just paid $5,500 for this car from a private party. I felt that I was safe because of the extended warranty that came with it. I do not have the money to fix it. I am a full time college student, and work to help pay expenses. My car had to be towed from my college, to my house... over 150 miles. I have exhausted all my loans, and I still do not have enough money to fix this. I have spent all the money I earned working in high school to pay cash for this car. I thought it would last me until I graduated. Boy was I wrong. It lasted me about one and a half months!!! At least I do not owe on the car like so many people here do. I do not have the money for a new car, and do not want to have payments. My car currently sits at my house... it looks nice... but it doesn't run!

2000 Dodge Intrepid 2.7

Summary:

Do not ever buy one of these cars

Faults:

My water pump failed at 80.000 miles, after the water pump failed and was replaced, all the sensor lights kept coming on. I drove the car for 2 days after I had the water pump changed and then the engine starts knocking. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I called the Chrysler dealership and they informed me that the water pump had a defect, the water drains directly into the engine. would like info regarding the lawsuits filed on behalf of these cars and know if I am eligible to inlist.

General Comments:

The car is a very sharp looking car, but because of a defect Chrysler knows about and does nothing about I am now out of a car, just to replace the motor is going to cost me ($5,0000.00). Unlike Chrysler I don't have that kind of money to buy another motor.

Good thing you guys replaced that (Timing Chain). The premature breaking of that part around 70,000-100,000 is the main causes of the 2.7 engine failure.. It needs to be replace around every 70,000 if you want the car to last.
