Faults:

Same old song... sludge in the engine, maintenance done, and Daimler Chrysler won't live up their warranty!

General Comments:

This car had no problems until the last oil change. I went to a local oil change place, and the tech brought me the oil cap showing a ton of sludge. This seemed odd, since I have normal oil changes and never saw that before. About two weeks later, the car started pinging and stalled on the highway. Since then the dealer has put in for a warranty claim, but Dodge has refused it stating poor maintenance! I have been doing regular maintenance at 3,000 mile intervals, even though the owners manual states they should be done at 7,500 intervals. The car is now a piece of crap that needs over $6,000 in repairs, and none of it my fault. Dodge won't honor their contract, and I am still in this car for $10,000 and three years.

Don't BUY A DODGE!!!

DODGE and DAIMLER CHRYSLER is notorious for not covering their manufacturer's defects. I have over 1,000 pages of research showing that they do not cover their warranty, and will do everything possible to void their contract with you!

I too had a Dodge Intrepid that accumulated oil sludge in the engine. Dodge claimed it was because I missed 2 oil changes! They do not make a very good engine if this is the case, and no one should buy or lease this car unless you do not mind putting $9,000.00 to repair it. It seems I have not been the only one who has been affected. Dodge does not back up their product and future car buyers should beware.

Summary:

I'm very disappointed in my American made car

Faults:

The first problem I had was the oil sensor went out.

Next, the trunk switch stop working.

The power door started having problem, and the rear right door motor make a loud noise. Now it will not work properly.

Finally, I think the engine skipped timing. I started with the water pump leaking. Now I'm looking for an engine like everyone else here.

General Comments:

I was in love with my beautiful Dodge when I first bought it.

I put 17" rim, sound system and tint. Now my dream car is complete.

Now I have a $325.00 payment on a car that I'm looking for a engine.

I now have one of the tightest lemons in my town.

I own a 2000 Intrepid. The power locks broke about a year ago, & the key to the trunk no longer works. Yesterday, I found out the engine is done. Dead. Fried. I still owe $5400.00 on my loan... From what I hear this sort of engine situation is common among Intrepids, so why does Dodge do nothing? I will never purchase another Dodge again. Ever.

Summary:

Good To Rent, Terrible To Own!

Faults:

2.7 Liter Engine has low oil pressure and about to blow. Oil light coming on.

Replaced Cam Sensor.

Replaced 3 electric door locks.

Weather Stripping around back doors have pulled loose.

General Comments:

The 2.7 liter engine has major design flaws according to my mechanic. My car is currently at the dealership where it has been for two weeks. I am unsure what to do, a new engine $6000?, replace with a used engine $4000? The book value is worth about $6000. when it is repaired and running properly. I feel that Dodge is aware of the problem, but will not recall the engine. It is all about the money. I will never own another one, I rented one and decided that it would be a great car to own, wrong!

I have a dodge intrepid it a 2000 model, well first it was the transmission 1 week after I picked it up from Car-max. That turn out to be a 1500 dollar mistake which they paid for, then it was the back passenger side door lock, then it was the battery I became stranded on the side of Interstate Highway-35 for 3 hours till road side assistance showed up. Right now at this point car is in my garage about to replace the oil pressure pump and 2 hoses thank god for my father in-law for being a mechanic, it is so sad that Dymler Chrysler has become like Ford. Makes me rethink about buying a dodge charger when they come out, I love my car, but what a waste of 12,000 grand I guess not all that glitters is gold.

I have a 2000 chrysler with a 2.7l. I have over 300k with this engine. Regalur oil changes help this.
