2002 Dodge Intrepid 2.7
Summary:
Money pit, no confidence
Faults:
The first problem was a water pump. The water pump is encased in the engine. Stupid design idea. Cost to repair $1300. No the engine light is on constantly. Most recently the oil light is on. Replaced oil sending unit.. no help. Not sure what it is causing problem. Oil light goes off at 2000 rpm and on as soon as it goes below that mark. Repair shop says it is an oil pressure problem.
Almost for certain as with all Dodges and Chryslers the transmission is next. Please add to any class action the car design sucks. We are trading ASAP/

All 2nd Gen Dodge Intrepids were built in Canada at the Brampton, Ontario facility. Now, my friend, if you are only just finding out that Dodge is a Chrysler-owned brand then I really wonder if you should have bought the car in the first place. A motor vehicle is too big a purchase, and too dangerous a tool, to be taken as slight as buying a toaster. Now let me get this straight. The check-engine light comes on and you don't go to Pep Boys and get it checked out and consequently your transmission fails. You replace the transmission and now you have yet another check-engine light and you STILL have not gotten it checked out? My advice: buy a bicycle.
