2003 Dodge Intrepid SXT 3.0 HO

Summary:

I am getting good performance for my money

Faults:

There is a small water leak under the driver's seat at the location of the rug fastener. It appeared at 50000kms and so far I am unable to locate the source. Dealership unclogged the A/C drain hose, but that did not stop the leak. I am still at a loss of where it is coming from.

Around 45000km the bearings on one of the engine pulleys needed to be replaced.

The mirror adjustment switch for adjusting the drivers mirror is spring loaded, and popped out and needed replacing at 40000km.

The console vinyl cover started cracking at both sides of the shifter stick. I pulled it out and fixed it myself since the dealership did not want to replace a $300cdn part.

Wipers are difficult to replace since it is all one long unit. But I was able to find ones that slid into the wiper track - even though it was very difficult to do.

General Comments:

Overall I am still happy with the handling of the car.

I find the interior to be comfortable and quiet during long highway trips.

I find the car has pick-up when I need to get out and pass a vehicle or truck.

It pulls my utility trailer and 15ft fiberglass without much effort. I can easily haul the boat out of the water up the boat launch in low gear without spinning the front wheels.

The handling of the car is nice and stable around corners and driving at highway speeds.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I am happy that you are not experiencing the problems a lot of us are having with with our Intrepid. Ours is a 2001 and is just not a good car. The engine has been our worst nightmare. We will never buy another Chrysler product ever again. The life of a car is supposed to last approximately 10 years; however ours did not last 2 years. What is wrong with this picture?

I'm pretty sure you (the commenter above) bought one with the 2.7 L sludge-o-matic. Stay away from LH-cars equipped with the 2.7 L engine!

I have a 2003 SE and also had the water leak that I "thought" was coming from the rug hook. After pulling the interior and hosing the bottom of the car, it turned out to be a seam that was not completely sealed. It was on the edge of the floor, between the doors, on the driver side of the car. A little automotive seam sealer on top, a little undercoating on the bottom and no leak since then!

2003 Dodge Intrepid ES 2.7

Summary:

An absolute joke of a car from a company that should have went under years ago

Faults:

Rented this car and after leaving the lot within 3 minutes, the check engine light came on and after another minute, it stalled and left us sit for one half an hour. We were picked up in a Taurus and had no problems there after. Never did bother to find out what was wrong with it.

General Comments:

I purposefully wanted to drive this exact car to see if what everyone said was true. Car seemed nice to drive for the first three minutes. I have never owned a Dodge and now never will. I thought if I liked it, I may buy one for the wife. I am not sorry this happened as it was a real eye opener to what Dodge is about.

What a joke. I can get more distance from a good drive off the tee box.

Please, do a better job of checking out the car before posting a negative review. You drove the car for all of three minutes and you base a review on that? This was a rental car, as you said. How many miles were on it? You know as well as everyone else does that rental cars are driven very hard and go through an unusual amount of wear and tear.

I have a 2003 Intrepid SE with 24K on it and have had not a single problem with it since the day I bought it. Regular, thorough maintenance is the key to making any car last.
