2017 Dodge Journey SXT 3.6L

Summary:

Great SUV!

Faults:

Nothing yet.

General Comments:

Smooth, powerful, comfortable and quiet, but thirsty! Uses a lot more gas than our old V6 Escape (slightly smaller, fewer HP). Got a great deal ($11k off list) and it's loaded.

Although most have the optional 3rd row seat, I'm glad ours doesn't. The third row is too cramped to be useful, and there is more room in the rear without it, including an underfloor storage compartment.

2017 Dodge Journey Crosstrack 3.6L V6

Summary:

Excellent

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Purchased the car based on price, options, size and dealer. We have had the car for close to four months without any problems. I really enjoy the seat comfort, and the luggage capacity; we have to carry a wheel chair wherever we go and still have room for passengers. I believe the car to be a very good purchase for our needs.

2015 Dodge Journey SE 2.4

Summary:

So far so good, really like all the features for a cheap vehicle!

Faults:

Nothing yet!! Only got it 3 1/2 weeks ago!

General Comments:

I know it's just new, but no issues yet. Just me getting used to the UConnect!!!

Others say how slow the 2.4 engine is. Seems fine to me.

Really like the door lock system. Just touch the outside handle and the door unlocks (that is if you have the FOB with you)! Same to unlock from the inside. Also a touch on the small button, and the front doors and all doors lock. A nice feature.

My wife really likes the dual zone air conditioning/heating system as she is always colder than me.

A lot of features for a cheap car!

I have to ask - what did you pay?

25th Oct 2015, 11:24

$21,000 Canadian (so about $16,000 in USD) + tax and lic.

Original poster here - so far so good - over 10,000 Km (6,000 miles) one oil change and 2 minor recalls - a bolt to replace a clip and a dab of sealant on a ground! Just did a 2,300 Km trip to Florida from Ontario Canada - drove and rode well (three adults and packed to the roof).

Well 18,250 km (or about or approx. 11,350 miles) and first warranty work. Wheel sensor as the ABS, cruise and stability control all quit working. So still pleased!!

About 40,000 Km or approx 24,000 miles, still all fine. Only the one issue that I mentioned! Heading to Florida with it again this winter!!

A modern car had better be fine at only 24k traveled.

I had a wheel speed sensor go too - one week after the warranty ended. I replaced it myself for under $100.

If you see this, can you comment more on the misfire issues?

I have a 2013 SXT which just had the transmission fail at 120k miles, which as I have found is sadly a VERY common issue with this powertrain. In fact, as much as I've seen evidence of it, I really feel like Dodge/Chrysler really Fked this one up bad and there should have been recalls long before now. Probably am lucky mine got this far before this, but I still feel like it probably shouldn't happen.

2010 Dodge Journey SXT 3.5L

Summary:

Dodge needs to issue a recall and change the entire braking system

Faults:

The braking system is not big enough for this vehicle. I have replaced the pads and rotors 3 times.

The tires are wearing unevenly, due to the fact that it will not stay aligned.

General Comments:

It is not worth the money that is still owed on it, due to the fact that I am having to buy pads and rotors every 10-15,000 miles.

Suspension issues - probably due crappy bushings used by Dodge. Look for aftermarket. Get your independent mechanic to install them. Don't go to Dodge, because they'll use the same crappy unreliable ones, as well as the pads and rotors.

Your Journey has a warranty for a reason, so Dodge can find and repair misc items under warranty and bill Dodge headquarters.

If you listen to Service Advisors, you're gonna go mad, because their job is to keep the business coming, offer you a rental and coffee. As a consumer, that's no good.

Definitely buy pads and rotors off eBay (read on forums about available quality brands) and have them fitted at a local garage for much cheaper. Some car makers put on pads that wear out quickly so you have to buy them more often.

Most people think 'aftermarket' parts mean Performance parts. They could not be more wrong. Aftermarket parts fall into three categories, and this is true for most cars on the market, except perhaps for luxury brands such as Ferrari or Rolls Royce.

When you search 'aftermarket' parts off eBay or any car parts site out there, you will find the regular replacement parts which can be of equal or even better quality than the parts sold at the main dealer, then you find performance parts, then cheap replacement parts. No one is forced to buy the original parts from the main dealer, no matter what the brand is. For European, American and Japanese/Korean cars, there are tons of aftermarket parts such as brakes, cooling system, timing belt kits, air conditioning system components, bearings, suspension components, and the list goes on. Almost always, a regular replacement aftermarket part is cheaper or even much cheaper than the equivalent part sold at the main dealer. Just check the forums for your specific vehicle to find out which aftermarket part brands are good to purchase and save thousands of dollars.
