The horn does not work.

General Comments:

This car is really great. It runs really fast and has some of the best control I ever had behind the wheel. It is also a gas saver and so far all the parts that I purchased came out relatively cheap. It is very easy to maintain and every part is easy to reach. The interior is kind of small, but comfortable. It has a great heating and cooling system.

Faults:

I've got a 95' Dodge Neon. It's got a major Head Gasket problem. It will cost you over $600 to fix it. The company has not made an effort to recall and fix this problem or at least pay for part of the cost. It's burning oil like crazy and although it's drivable it's not reliable at all. A Head Gasket that's worth only a few dollars is causing me over $600 to fix. I will NEVER buy a Dodge product again. I just recently got a Honda Civic because my Neon is unreliable and I don't think I would ever go back to an American make again. American car companies wonder why their market is down... their attention to detail is very poor.

Faults:

Water pump gaskets started leaking around 150,000 miles

Air Conditioner went kaput around 170K.

The car was noisy at interstate speeds due to the lack of door frame around the side windows.

The Air Conditioning is marginal on hot sunny days and low driving speeds. It is pretty good on the highway when it's over-cast.

It has one of the hottest (temperature) heaters I have ever seen in a car.

The radio is poor at best and the 11 gallon gas tank is way too small.

General Comments:

Considering that this is a bottom of the line Dodge vehicle, I feel it was a good value. I drive mostly on the highway which may account for the high mileage I was able to get on the car. It never left me stranded. I was averaging about 35 MPG over the eight years I owned the car. I am 6'3" and was comfortable driving it. There is plenty of leg room which most other cars in this class lack.

Faults:

This car is a money pit. I've had my '95 Dodge Neon for 4 years, I bought it for $3,800 with 40,000 miles on it. I have had to put more money in it than I paid for it.

I have replaced the head $200.

My A/C compressor went out TWICE. This was a $900 repair.

I go through brake pads about every 3 months because the rotors don't fit right, even though they were made for the car.

The oil has to be changed every 1500 miles or the car acts up.

My transmission has been replaced THREE times, which cost me $1200 each time.

I had to have the entire car repainted because a flaw with the 1995 Neon is that 90% were "over-baked" in the warehouse, so the paint flakes with high pressure wash. When I took mine in to get it repainted, he took an air hose to it and it stripped the paint from the entire car. Because of this I had to pay to have it stripped to bare metal, otherwise the paint company's warranty would not cover it. This cost $3000.

My A/C switch that changes from head to feet and so on breaks once a year because it's plastic; a $78 piece of plastic.

General Comments:

I wish I could get a different car, but even with the new paint job and body-kit, and everything, I can only get $2200 trade in value on it.
