Faults:

Various O2 sensor replacements.

The engine light comes on and off, sometimes giving no OBD codes.

New transmission needed at 80,000.

Oil leaking at 78,000.

Stereo speakers needed replacing at 73,000 under normal usage.

General Comments:

This car stinks.

A cotton ball could practically scratch the paint, and the trim around the windows is completely chipped away.

However, the areas of the car that aren't scratched are still fairly shiny.

It is a very room small car, I've filled it to capacity, both in the seats and the trunk (with fold down backseat). 4 people can ride comfortably for a long time, and 5 can ride well for short distances. I fit a 26 inch mountain bike in the backseat.

The engine is loud, but fairly powerful for a 2.0 L sedan.

The gas mileage is still around 29mpg.

The interior materials are cheap, various trimmings will fall off or become loose.

The rear floor, tail lights and spare tire well will be filled with water unless the area around the trunk is reinsulated.

The car handles well, and is easy to park.

The ATX should be 4 rather than 3 speeds.

The cab forward design makes some repairs more expensive, because certain areas are compacted in the small under-hood area.

Defroster and heater are pathetic, and the windshield is insulated so badly, that during cold weather, there is frost on the inside.

Console has a tissue holder.

Faults:

Not to many problems until recently. Once I hit 130k all problems started to occur. I have had problems with the car overheating, problems with oil consumption, and the air conditioning.

As with every other Neon the windows leak water and air.

The check engine light will not turn off.

General Comments:

Overall it is a very good and reliable car. It is a very fun car to drive and I would probably buy another one.

Faults:

There have only been two things that have gone wrong with this car.

First, the O2 sensor went out. That cost a couple hundred dollars to fix.

Second, one of the threads that the spark plug screws into stripped causing the spark plug wire to burn. The spark plug then shot out of the engine. Very cheap to fix. Did it myself in a couple of hours.

General Comments:

Overall this is a very excellent car. All repairs have been minor and not costly. Very quick and can beat most Honda's (maybe because I have done some performance modifications).

Faults:

During first 2 months both the transmission and rack & pinion had manufacturers defects. I was in Germany and had a German Chrysler dealer repair it.

The thermostat died at 80,000 miles.

The Transmission ran out of fluid due to a small leak at 112,000 miles. I rebuild the transmission and replaced the timing belt.

Other than those problems, I've had NO other problems with the car. 117,000 miles and still original head, water pump, air conditioner, struts etc.. Unbelievable!

A family of four, and not a single tear in the upholstery. No rust either!

General Comments:

This is the best car I've ever owned in terms of reliability and service. I hope all my future cars are this good. I'd keep this little sport, but due to a sudden military move I must sell it : (

It has survived a year in Germany, driving over 100 MPH on the autobahn every day, 3 years in England driving on the wrong side of the road, and 3 years in New Mexico with temps that range from 106 in the day to 20F at night... at over 6,000 feet.

If I had to ask for anything. it would be that the car was quieter on the inside. The sport windows (no frame) allowed air to create a lot of interior car noise.
