2003 Dodge Ram Pickup 3500 SLT Quad Cab 4x4 5.9L 24 V turbo diesel high output

Summary:

Wow, what a truck

General Comments:

Engine has a lot of power.

New quad cab is very roomy, and comfortably seats adults in back seat.

New fully boxed hydro-formed frame feels very strong and stiff. Transmission shifts in and out of four wheel drive with ease.

Great fuel mileage; getting 16 miles per gallon (without a load).

When truck is at an idle, there is a strong odor of diesel in the cab.

Long wheel-base provides a comfortable ride.

New Cummins diesel is very quiet.

Need running boards to get into truck comfortably.

No problem starting engine in cold weather.

Plenty of storage compartments located in dashboard.

I also have a 2003 Ram with the HO Cummings. I love it, but I also get a strong diesel fuel odor in the cabin when at idle. I brought it to the dealer twice and they cannot fix it any ideas???

I have a 2004 1/2 Dodge 3500 Cummins HO 6 speed manual. The only time I get any hint of diesel in the cab is at idle with air vent selector in the "outside air" position. Try rotating the knob so air is drawn from inside the cab only (the two left most positions on the dial). Otherwise if the wind happens to be blowing from the rear of your truck, it will likely also blow the exhaust forward to where the cabin-air intake is located, suck it into the system, and blow it into the cab. Just a thought...

2003 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 SLT 5.7 Hemi

Summary:

Would highly recommend this truck

Faults:

Stalled once while backing up.

General Comments:

Very roomy with the Quad cab.

Plenty of power with the Hemi. Haven't towed yet, but looking forward to it. Great highway get-up-and-go.

A little high to get into, but installed step tubes and is perfect now.

Handles great on snowy back roads. 4x4 works perfectly.

Dodge did a great job redesigning the 2500 Series. I get a lot of positive comments on its appearance.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

The most likely reason your truck stalled once when backing up was slightly low battery voltage. Did you give it a little gas then let off? If so the low voltage causes the ECM to not increase the RPM's as the load was decreased. It happened to my 2002 Dakota 2 days before the battery died on me. The same thing happens to my fourstroke outboards. Only in reverse though.??
