2001 Dodge Stratus SE 2.7

Summary:

The Dodge Stratus SE is a wonderful car

Faults:

I have had no problems with my Dodge. I love it.

It is almost worn out. I was told the transmission was not a good one in the Stratus. I was told it would go out at 30,000 miles.

I have never had any major work done to my car. I would own another Dodge. My son is a Dodge person also. My next car will be whatever I can afford that is not too expensive.

My air conditioner went out 2 years ago. What do you expect from a car that had over 150,000 miles on it.

General Comments:

This car is very comfortable to ride in.

When the air worked - it was nice and cool.

I did not have to use high mileage oil until the car hit 150,000 miles. The oil light started coming on because the car had so many miles on it.

The headlights are foggy inside now, and it is harder to drive at night now.

The Dodge Stratus SE is a great car!!!

2001 Dodge Stratus SE 2.4 I-4 cylinder

Summary:

It's a great car, and I would definitely own another Chrysler/Dodge vehicle

Faults:

I had the rear suspension replaced at around 76,000 miles, because the mounting brackets deteriorated and broke.

At around 80,000 miles I heard a few clicks behind my steering wheel on a -35 degree day in February when I was moving my car at work. At the same time, my airbag light came on and the horn and cruise control quit working.

General Comments:

Transmission has a mind of its own. While it shifts smoothly and does so when appropriate, it offers quick acceleration from a dead stop occasionally, or offers sluggish acceleration at times, as well from a dead stop.

The Stratus warms up quickly in winter and handles great in snow. Controls are simple and within easy reach.

The engine could be quieter. Fluid checkpoints are easy to locate and reach under the hood. Very stable and solid ride.

2001 Dodge Stratus SE Coupe 3.0

Summary:

Sporty

Faults:

Had to put new O2 sensors in - ended up replacing 3 of them.

Dashboard cracked from heat.

Paneling on one rear side peeled back - easily fixable.

My transmission may be going out - nearly hitting 100,000 miles on it.

General Comments:

This is a great sports car, has a ton of get up and go. Very easy to handle and fun to drive.

Windows on the door are convertible like.

The only con really is how low riding it is, and it's hard to get in and out of.

It easily bottoms out, but that is normal for a sports car.

Worried about the transmission, but otherwise it has handled well.

Great sound system and decent gas mileage.

No major complaints after having it for 2 years.

2001 Dodge Stratus RT 3.0

Summary:

Best I have ever owned!!! Buy one

Faults:

Drove the car 120,000 miles and have replaced nothing!!!

General Comments:

Most reliable car I have ever owned, it has a ton of miles and I haven't had to fix anything. It still runs great, never had too much power, but it gets you around town looking pretty good for the price.

2001 Dodge Stratus SE 2.4 4 cylinder

Summary:

Nice, but Don't Buy Out Of Warranty

Faults:

The car would not go over 100 miles on a tank of gas. The A/C would not work? The Transmition stopped at 45300 Miles.

General Comments:

Nice ride, But gas guzzling (4)! Don't buy if you have kids you don't want them in a broke down car.

2001 Dodge Stratus 2.4 4 cylinder

Summary:

Best car I have ever owned

Faults:

In six years of ownership the only repair necessary was for a broken radio back in 2003. Repaired under warranty. Other than oil changes that is the only time this car has seen the service department. Most reliable car I have ever owned.

General Comments:

I love this car. It's a 4 cylinder automatic, so gas usage is not an issue. It has been unbelievably dependable without any repairs other than a radio replaced in 2003.

This car rides and handles well, especially on Interstates. There is some engine compartment noise that gets into the passenger area. Could use a bit more sound deadening material.

After numerous head gasket problems on my old Neon, I almost didn't buy this 4 cylinder Stratus. I'm glad I decided to buy it based on it's dependability over the years.
