Great Porsche eater

Faults:

Driver's seat leather is starting to crack.

You must change the timing belt every 50,000 miles.

Hard to get the right parts from the local parts store.

Recall on the transfer case.

Clutch slave cylinder went out.

General Comments:

Enormous amounts of after market, go fast items, and high performance parts.

4g63 engine capable of 400+ HP.

Great autocross car.

Used parts in yards are easy to find.

Usually can be found in top of the line model for less than $4000.00 USD.

1992 Eagle Talon TSI AWD turbo

Summary:

Buy it now because it will be a classic

Faults:

The only problem is the electrical system. The power windows do not work, as well as the power mirrors and interior lights, which usually go out with higher mileage cars.

Do not lose the stereo rack, you can't find a new one anywhere!

General Comments:

These cars are very easy to upgrade into really fast hotrods. This is a really great car. I bought it with plenty of miles on it but the major parts are excellent.

The parts are very cheap. I replaced a hardened valve gasket with an after-market Honda part. Also, getting into the engine is very easy.

1992 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 2.0 turbo AWD

Summary:

High performance without the high gas consumption

Faults:

Clutch went out at 105,000 miles.

Power windows jump around sometimes and don't operate perfectly smoothly.

Nothing else.

General Comments:

The good:

For a 92, the car's in incredible condition and the paint shines like new.

It's very very very fast with minor modifications. ~200 HP stock, spend a few hundred on an exhaust system, increase the turbo boost to 15-16 PSI and you can run with most cars with engines 2.5x the size.

The car handles exceptionally well stock. I modified the suspension and now it drives even better.

Great braking power.

Very cold, perfect A/C even after 9 years on the road.

Everything electrical works like it's brand new.

The all wheel drive makes the car a blast to drive, and keeps it safe in any weather. I've had it in deep snow, heavy rain, etc. with no problems.

The bad:

Back seats are too small.. but it's a sports car so this is expected.

Premium gas (92+ octane) is a must.

Mobil 1 synthetic oil is a must.

You should be careful using synthetic oil in cars that have higher mileage. The synthetic oil flows so well that a small leak with regular oil turns into a big leak with synthetic. I decided to put synthetic oil in my Probe GT (it had 200 000 km) and the oil leaked more. Not a huge difference but its something to be aware of.

Keep regular oil in it if it came with regular oil. If it came with synthetic then use synthetic, or if it is a new rebuild I'd say use synthetic. But only use synthetic when you have all new gaskets other wise you will have problems with leaks.

Please people when you're starting your talon:wait at least a minute or two before you start driving the car, give a chance to your turbo to getting heat and before turning off your engine let it run about a minute for cooling, it will increase your turbo life, a lot of people says that a turbo is always broken, just give it a help a little bit!

Excuse me for my English spelling, I try to do my best!

1992 Eagle Talon TSi 2.0 turbo

Summary:

It is a very fast pocket rocket

Faults:

The rear defogger pins on the glass fell off, and no one want's to try and fix it. So I went to AUTOZONE in Brooklyn NY and found a kit they sell for repairing that specific thing, and it works.

General Comments:

It is a great car, but if only it could handle like the Merkur XR4Ti.

1992 Eagle Talon AWD TSi Turbo 2.0

Faults:

Warped front rotors, CV boot, window off track, oxygen sensor, clutch slave cylinder, coolant leak. All in 20,000 kilometres.

General Comments:

This car looks nice, is very fast and handles well.

Repairs on it were a pain in the butt. But mostly minor stuff, in total about $600 within the year, did most of the work myself.

If you don't mind servicing from time to time, a good buy for the dollar.
