Faults:

The engine started loosing some oil since the beginning. 89000 miles: 1 quart per 3000 miles. 145000 miles: 1 quart per 100 miles!

The cooling system is not reliable, the temperature of the motor goes from regular to very hot in few seconds!!!

Air conditioning is not working.

The lights start blinking after half an hour of use it could be very dangerous at night.

General Comments:

Despite some problem I like this car. It is cheap, strong, powerful, very roomy and easy to handle. Honest gas/mileage. Honest towing capability.

The best Van if they had no high oil consumption.

Faults:

Alternator seized

CV Joints wore out

Front wheel bearings needed replacing

Tie Rod needed replacing.

General Comments:

This van has been a really good buy. Overall, repairs that have been needed are because of general wear, not because of bad manufacturing and are fairly cheap. It's a great road trip van for the kids and the AWD makes it feel really safe.

Faults:

- The usual things, such as Brakes, Master Cylinder, Radiator, Blower.

- Driver seat starting to wear, but what do you expect after 278k.

- Rear door latch, replaced at 170k.

- Passenger side power window motor replaced at 140k.

General Comments:

- This Van has been highly reliable, nothing major has been done to the transmission, other than basic service every 60k.

- Motor has been great, it always starts on the first try, even in -20C temp.

- Tons of cargo space, especially if you take out the rear bench.

- I would definitly purchase another one of these vehicles, too bad they stopped making them.

Faults:

Initially received van with inner tie rod, front shocks, and rotors bad. Replaced myself at about $175 for parts. A/C was not working when I took ownership. Decided to not repair A/C.

Alternator seized around 200,000 miles (alternators are expensive when broken down on road).

Front passenger side upper control arm bushing disintegrated (and was really noticed) around 205,000 miles. Ford wanted about $800 to replace control arm and perform an alignment. I went to local part store, bought bushings (about $4 X 2) and paid a guy to press the bushings after I removed the control arm. Repair required alignment.

Around 228,000 miles, the transmission started slipping, probably due to failure on my part to maintain fluid quality. This repair cost about $1,600.

General Comments:

I am very upset that Ford discontinued the manufacturing of this model. I would definitely replace this (if mine ever dies to the point that repair is outrageously expensive) with a newer model if they were still produced.

The interior is simplistic in my model. Very easy to locate all controls.

Wish the model had a rear ventilation system. With van fully loaded (7 passengers), the climate in the back can get rather warm.

Seats are not easy to remove without two people. Have used it to move my family and another friend's family and the van holds quite a bit of cargo with the seats out. Just really hate the effort for removing the seats.

The engine compartment is cramped, so I'm very happy that I've not had to do any major engine work.

Parts for this vehicle are readily available (both OE and after market).

Faults:

Side door needing to be replaced at 45,000 miles. Transmission needed changing at 118,000 miles. Lots of hesitation at about 85,000 miles, needed new oxygen sensor to help hesitation. Rear left light burns out quickly. Head gasket blew at about 65,000 miles. Shocks terribly worn about 80,000 miles. Engine does not have enough power, 3.0 V6 is too weak.

General Comments:

Nice, comfortable ride. Very comfy seats. Engine runs well. Reliable van.
