1994 Ford Aspire 1.3

Summary:

Gutless, but reliable

Faults:

I have had minor electrical problems.

Several batteries.

Door chime that wouldn't stop.

Emergency flasher turns on on its own.

Dome light doesn't always work.

General Comments:

Very reliable and I have had to do little more than regular maintenance to it.

Front brake pads lasted until 85000.

I still haven't had to replace rears at over 112000.

It is slow. Turning off the AC is like hitting a nitrous oxide button.

^^^ That was sooo funny, with the nox button and all.

1994 Ford Aspire 4-door

Summary:

Lots of expensive little problems

Faults:

Replaced transmission at 65000 miles.

Replaced ignition lock cylinder.

Switch for hazard lights broken.

Colored plastic for signal indicator lights has faded to near white.

General Comments:

This is an underpowered, economy car, with weak acceleration.

Fuel economy on highway in mild weather at 60 MPH can be over 40 miles per gallon, but above 60 MPH, around town, or in cold weather it drops rapidly.

The air conditioning also severely affects performance and fuel economy.

While buying the car was initially cheap, fixing the car has not been, as parts are generally quite expensive. This is a particular problem, as many little things have broken or gone wrong.

For example, the switch to turn on the hazard lights was a small plastic button on the steering column. The button broke, but it cannot be purchased without buying all the other controls on the steering column--the levers for turn indicator, windshield wipers and headlights, and the control box itself--for $400, when the car itself is not worth more than $1000.

These high prices have also been felt in replacing the ignition lock cylinder, the transmission (always expensive, but more so on this car) and a couple internal switches for the back-up lights.

The suggested tire size is also too small to be widely stocked, so the tires can be more expensive (we opted for a larger size instead).

None of the seats are comfortable, but the back seats are especially hard, and give little space for adult passengers.

While the car was inexpensive to buy, we probably would have been better off paying a little more for a more substantial car.

1994 Ford Aspire SE 1.3

Summary:

Terrific car

Faults:

Normal wear and tear on the car - brakes, belts, etc..

General Comments:

This is a great car, I got it for a terrific deal, someone had just traded it in when I went looking for a car, this one was oddly shaped so I liked it and took it home. It has never given me a day's problem and has never failed to start up, even in cold weather.

I love the SE version of the car, you don't see many on the road, SE meaning it has a more sporty look to it. This is a great little car if you can deal with the low power the engine has.

1994 Ford Aspire

Faults:

Fuel efficency drops when three or more people are in the car, it also scraps the bottom when you go over tiny bumps.

General Comments:

This a great car to have for a first car or just a driving around town car.. But can make it to the beach... YAY.

1994 Ford Aspire SE 1.3

Summary:

Very reliable basic transport

Faults:

There have been no failures with this car. The only problems are normal wear and tear; faded trim, wiper blades dried out, worn front brake pads.

General Comments:

I bought this car when my Miata bombed out. I wasn't to thrilled with it at first but it has grown me. It has been very reliable, has adequate power, gets great gas mileage, and has an incredible air conditioner. I have done all service on it myself and it's been a breeze to work on.

It is pretty roomy inside as well and there is plenty of room in the back when you drop the rear seats.

Hello.

I own a Ford Aspire '94, and I have been looking to replace my lower ball joints for quite some time.

I have realized that they are very hard to find, so I am asking for your help in locating them either new or used.

If you have any information on where I can find them or who might be selling them, please write me back.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My email address is corle03@hotmail.com

Thank you,

Predrag.
