1997 Ford Aspire 2 door 1.3

Summary:

A good cheap go to work and back car

Faults:

The airbag button kept coming on.

Rttling up front under the engine after putting your foot on the pedal.

People always hitting you with their car because you are in a blind spot (too small).

Rubber seal on the hatch window came unglued.

Driver's side door lock won't work.

Automatic shift on the floor is loose and wobbly.

Hatch window makes a rattly noise all the time.

When it rains or you wash your windshield, make sure you always have your windows up or else you will get wet.

Roof not shaped right.

General Comments:

Believe or not, I have a buyer for my car. A man has the same one and has 60,000 miles on his and is giving it to his daughter for college and loves the car. And since mine has only 14,500 he can't wait for me to sell.

1997 Ford Aspire

Summary:

Low performance, not an economy car and an unreliable piece of equipment

Faults:

Well, the distributor and the cap were extremely expensive.

The car has left us behind sometimes.

Also, the engine is poor, and now it seems we need to rebuild the engine.

General Comments:

Even with good care, Ford Aspire's are very unreliable, and the wear and tear is a lot more prevalent in this car than in any other vehicle I previously owned.

I find this review to be false compared to the other ones on the this website I have had two Aspires and they have both been great reliable cars for me.

I find these engines exceptionally reliable.

1997 Ford Aspire 1.3

Faults:

The windshield cracked from a pebble at 4000 miles. Nothing else.

General Comments:

I love this car. My fiance almost bought one the same day and now I wish I had. It is economical and reliable. I have a manual and have never had any problems with power. Suprisingly comfortable. I hope Kia brings the Avella here.

1997 Ford Aspire 1.3

Faults:

The radio went out at 12,000 miles.

General Comments:

Nothing, the car is great, a bit slow but great. However the Ford dealership where I bought this car from is awful, they treat you like crap. And their work is shoddy. They have really turned me away from Ford - because of them this is the last Ford I ever plan to own.

1997 Ford Aspire 3 dr 1.3

Faults:

The radio went out 2 weeks after I got it. It's still rather new with 35,562 miles but so far it's had no problems.

General Comments:

The car is cute and seems to be reliable but it is so slow, I drove it to the mountains and I was humiliated by it, I couldn't seem to get over speeds of 40mph. I had a line behind me that was furious but there was nothing I could do, it was floored! If it had more power it would be a great little car.

If ford would have put a 16 valve engine in it.. the engine would have breathed better and you would not have had that problem.. Ford US seems to do this with the UK and Europe car models.. They bring them here and fail to offer the decent engine of the range. One can even get a turbocharged 160 horsepower engine in the current Fiesta in the UK... at a fairly decent price. And its a lot of car for its small shell :)
