I have a '87 bronco with 150,080 miles on it. I have had it since it came out. I have only had to replace the passenger lock and window, since I did it my self it was pretty cheap. The only problem I have with it is it eats gas like there is no tomorrow, but it is my babbie. I don't know why everyone says they have problems with it. But I keep my bronco in tip top shape with properley maintained. The lock on the door is the only thing that tore up on its on. The window was my fault.

1987 Ford Bronco 4.9 6 cyl

Summary:

Another FORD piece of crap

Faults:

1. 3 months after I bought it the battery died costing $100.

2. 4 months after, the gasoline tank sprung a leak and was completely rotted out costing $600.

3. 4 1/2 months after, the 4 wheel drive went out while I was in 4 wheel drive costing $1700.

4. 5 months after, the transmission slipped while I was backing up and would not stop causing me to hit a stairway bannister costing $170 for bannister and $850 for rebuilt tranny.

5. Still 5 months after, tailgate power window would not work and they had to completely disassemble the tailgate to fix costing $1000. GRAND TOTAL $4,420 in the 5 months.

General Comments:

For a truck that cost me $5,000 and repairs were $4,420. TOTAL $9,420, not worth considering unless you like to have to ride the bus while it spends 2 months in the shop.

Well from the way the comments look, 99.9% of you are not mechanically inclined. And that's the reason for high prices and continuous problems. I also have a 1987 Ford Bronco, and I also replaced the fuel tank, 170,000 miles and it cost me $115. Transfer case 168,000 miles, $830.

I'm at 172,000 miles now and it could use a little body work, see the car salesman that I bought it from didn't wash the salt off of it. But the repair panels are $28 a piece, I also do the bodywork as well, and I am an automotive tech.

So my Bronco is A-OK. I've tried others A.K.A. GM, Chrysler, Dodge, etc... and you can have them. I got tired of being left on the roadside. P.S. Try scheduled maintenance, you'll be amazed...
