1988 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer
Summary:
Attractive, but not practical
Faults:
1. Water leak around the windshield. This persisted for several months (had to leave the vehicle with the Ford service department for several consecutive days before the problem was finally fixed). After every rain, the front passenger side carpet was soaked.
2. The driver's seat back frame broke repeatedly. This occurred with normal use. I consider this a major safety issue. What could happen in the event of a rear end collision?
Having driven more than 250,000 miles, I have never experienced another seat frame breaking in any vehicle.
General Comments:
Other than these flaws, the truck performed well.
1. The automatic locking front hubs are convenient.
2. The rear window washer and wiper are a great feature.
3. Four wheel drive worked well in snow.
4. The full size spare tire, mounted on the rear hatch, was a great improvement over the mini spare of previous models.
5. Customer service, and especially shop service, at that Ford dealership was atrocious.
6. The dealership was later sold, after the second generation ownership. Not surprising.
My next Ford was an Explorer. The overall performance was good.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I owned an original Bronco (the small Jeep-like one). It had a pick-up bed rather than the full cap. It was a very nice little vehicle; unfortunately it liked to rust out.
I always thought the Bronco II's were nice little SUVs, but I am amazed that you've kept one for 26 years. Good going!
