1986 Ford Crown Victoria LTD 5.0

Summary:

The wagon is a wonderful vehicle

Faults:

I bought the car from a police officer who had not kept up with the maintenance. The car sat for eight months before being purchased by me. When I got it, all that needed to be done was routine repairs. The shocks, water pump, battery, timing belt, fuel lines, master cylinder, and brake lines needed to be replaced.

General Comments:

The car is the best car that I have owned in the past three years. It drives and handles exceptionally well, and is great with highway gas mileage. However, it is not so great with city street gas mileage, but I would definitely purchase another.

1986 Ford Crown Victoria Base 302c.i. V8

Summary:

A tank that hauled ass

Faults:

I bought the car for $650. It had blown head gaskets and a broken brake line and that's all... until I got hold of it.

General Comments:

I loved this car and would get another in a heart beat. It hauled major ass on the highway and never had a problem merging or passing vehicles. It beat any car that wanted to play with me, especially those Japanese pieces of crap.

I went mudding with it in a corn field; almost got stuck until I put my foot to the floor. It did its magic and ripped its way out.

Driving in this car was a dream and you couldn't feel a pothole anywhere if you hit one.

This car was the base edition; it had power nothing, AM/FM only, no speakers, but had Mustang parts, which kicked ass.

It spun its tires at 30mph, and scared the crap out of people. It was scary for being a big car.

It saved my ass from getting hurt majorly in a accident, which was hitting a '96 Explorer @ 45 mph. Broke the front end and drove like nothing happened. It had a major meltdown and overheated, put in antifreeze and it started up... for about a week, then it died.

This car was a prime example of how American engineering should be. I would buy another in a heart beat. It was a tank with Lazy Boys that could do 130 in a heart beat.

1986 Ford Crown Victoria LX 302ci/5.0

Summary:

This car is large, safe and luxurious... It's great!!

Faults:

We've replaced the valve cover gaskets twice and it's still leaking oil, but now the leak isn't coming from the valve covers.

The trim between the front and rear windows is missing and I can't seem to locate a replacement.

The ignition sticks in the start position causing the starter to grind.

General Comments:

On the other hand, the body is in excellent condition with NO body damage.

The interior, though needing a good steam cleaning, is in great shape.

It handles like a tuna boat, just the way a big car should, while being extremely comfortable.

I love the acceleration and security this car provides.

1986 Ford Crown Victoria LTD Police Interceptor

Summary:

Looks like death, but runs like a dream!

Faults:

The flywheel went bad and burned out 3 starters, the front seat's upholstery ripped badly in several places, the headliner fell shortly after purchasing, and the in-dash lights failed.

General Comments:

I love the acceleration and the way this car handles. I purchased it (4th owner) from a guy who never took care of it. Once it was cleaned up and some minor repairs were made (flywheel, starter, A/C unit, dash lights, seats, headliner, body work and paint), it really began to come together. I believe it's well worth the $300 I paid for it!

I really don't like the fact that there's no storage space in the front of this car. There are no cup holders and no center console, but those can be bought as accessories I suppose.

I have one; my grandpa was the only owner and he gave it to me. It was and still is in mint condition.
