Faults:

The odometer died at 137099 miles, and stuck before that.

The front seat belts don't retract (i believe they're just twisted) but lock up just fine on fast stops and the accident I was in.

The steering has a little play, but nothing major and doesn't affect driving/handling at all.

The engine shows know signs of it (besides the dipstick) but it uses some oil. not really a problem so long as its monitored.

General Comments:

This is a very nice car, I'm satisfied overall with it. It is well used, being an ex-police car, but still drives like a much newer vehicle.

The drivetrain is tight with power to spare. The transmission shifts smooth, though I'd be happier if the shift from first to second didn't rev so high. (this is standard to all the vics I've driven/been in, which is more than a couple)

Driving the car in the city is interesting sometimes because it is a very large car, but it handles turns and fast maneuvering well. On the highway it handles like a champ and shows no effort even when taken up to 90+ mph.

I'd buy another car like this one again, and I'm a Ford guy at heart so it'd likely be another interceptor.

Faults:

Sticky hood release, nothing other than very minor mechanical things.

General Comments:

I have had several PI Crown Vic's from 1994 to 1997. They are workhorse cars, extremely comfortable, great heating and A/C, superb handling and ride, durable and FAST for the size they are. The '97 came with silicone hoses all over and is quiet and smooth, cranking out a nice 22mpg overall--more on trips. It and the older ones will smoke a tire from a dead stop and stop like a fly on a windshield at 80. Cost is NOTHING from police sales, less than $3k, and I have yet to have one die!

None of them have any rust coming out anywhere, even after winter use in snow with salt on the roads. Tires wear evenly. These things are built like TANKS but drive far better than new Cadillacs--and will keep up with most anything on the road, once you get past 55....passing gear is unbelievable. If you put on a cat-back performance exhaust, it only gets better. Add a cold air kit, and WOW.

Faults:

No running lights. No dash lights. Wire may have been cut when removing Police lights. Need info on wiring back running lights.

General Comments:

No running lights No Dash lights.

Faults:

Check engine light comes on whenever I drive on the highway, or if I drive without stopping for a long time. In stop and go traffic around town, it normally stays off; I'm thinking it's a sensor someplace.

Trans shifts a little rough at times, but no major problems as of yet. Seems to be slightly better since I had it flushed.

Wipers are quirky; they don't always work right.

Rear brakes appear to be sticking sometimes.

General Comments:

Good car, has never left me stranded. I've driven it almost every day since I bought it. All I've really done to it is have the trans flushed and the AC recharged. I definitely am happy with this car. Bottom line is that it's a 94 ex police car with over 100k miles on it, it's not going to be perfect.

Faults:

While having the car only a short time, I have put over 500 miles on it in the first two weeks alone. All I have had to do was change oil and well lube the front end.

I had it inspected bumper-to-bumper and the mechanic couldn't believe how good it looked for 10 years and nearly 150,000 miles!

General Comments:

I just got rid of an old police car I had for two years (an '89) and am happy that I upgraded. This car runs like a dream. It is by far the fastest, most powerful vehicle I have ever owned.

The interior is huge and comfortable.

The suspension is unbelievably smooth and runs like a brand new car.

Don't let the high mileage scare you away. If the car was maintained well as a cruiser and hasn't been out of service for too long you can't beat the value.
