1995 Ford Crown Victoria LX 4.6 Liter V8
Summary:
Excellent car. Ford you did a good job when you made this car!!!
Faults:
Right after we got the car at 7200 miles, the torque converter went, but was still under warranty and the dealer fixed.
Replaced ball joint at 95000 miles.
ABS light came on, and the brakes would moan really bad. Would not stop at all at 102000 miles. Took it to the garage and they told us what the problem was, and that if we didn't want to fix it, we could just pull the plug, so that's what we did, and as a result had no ABS.
Had to replace the left rear side brakes twice because the caliper stuck.
Oxygen sensor went at 100000 miles.
Other than that, which are all minor issues, nothing has gone wrong at all, and I mean that.
Hit a deer at 129000 miles. Insurance company totaled. Otherwise we would still have it today.
General Comments:
This car was excellent. Rode like a dream, handled excellently, had tremendous amounts of power.
Only re-aligned the brakes once the entire time we owned the car.
Excellent; Ford did a good job when they made this car.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I totally agree with you. I had two 1995 police package Crown Vics and they are by far the best cars I have owned. One was a red unmarked car driven by a detective and the other was from the highway patrol. I only parted with them because my wife and I got greedy and wanted to buy new cars after many years of working through college. What's worse is the new cars we purchased weren't Crown Vics. I drive a 2007 Mustang GT and my wife has a 2006 Chrysler 300 C. These cars may beat the Crown Vics in acceleration and top speed, but they are not nearly as comfortable and easy to maintain.
If we were still driving our Crown Vics today they would still be going strong with over 300,000 miles on them and I would have a lot more money in my bank account not being saddled with car payments and higher insurance premiums. My dad still has his 1995 P71 with 165,000 miles on it and it still runs like a champ. His wasn't used as a patrol car and he bought it when it was only two years old with just over 30,000 miles on it. He was the smart one in keeping his car. I would like to buy another police Crown Vic before Ford stops building them. However, I really liked the 1995's because they felt like they were more quality built. I mean that when you look at the overall interior. For some reason the engine on the 1995's were smoother and quieter. All other year models have noisier engines. How I wish I could turn back time! Anyway, they're great cars and a great pleasure to own and drive. It's Ford's best kept secret.
