Faults:

I bought the car with a bent axle, cracked radiator, and worn tires; and had these replaced shortly after purchase.

The starter died without prior warning at 135,450 miles, and while it was being replaced the battery cables also were replaced.

Other than that, just regular maintenance has been used, I plan to also replace some more small items.

General Comments:

Firstly I personally think that when it comes to large cars this is quite possibly top of the line for the best bargain.

Despite all the repairs that have already gone into this vehicle, I expect it to be a long lasting car with not too much upkeep expense.

The handling of a Crown Victoria is not European in the least; IE very sharp tight steering with excellent road feedback. Some might even call it sloppy, but compared to earlier years of it, it has tightened up considerably. It does show a small amount of float at Higher speeds eg, 85+ MPH. Also some people might find it difficult to park due to its overly large size.

The interior of the Crown Victoria is rather sparse. The seats which are designed for police officers are not entirely the most comfortable I have ever sat in. The fronts are cloth covered bucket seats and the rear bench seat is a viynal monstrosity, suitable for three very comfortable adults, and I have smashed four in with relative ease.

I replaced the factory radio with a Pioneer head unit Mp5500, for cd and MP3 capabilities, also I have currently replaced the rear speakers, and plan to replace the fronts for better high end sound. For the low end sound I plan to get an Infinity basslink unit which seemingly has all I desire for low end.

Over all I absolutely love this car, there are some down sides to it, namely size and fuel consumption, However if the car has the right maintenance on it regularly you can get up to 25-30 miles per gallon highway driving, which is not that bad.

Faults:

Anti-lock brake pump motor died; just a nuisance really. When the dealer quoted me $1200 to fix it I said forget it - the car drives and stops fine without it (The brakes just operate as normal brakes instead of anti-lock brakes).

A few nuisance fluid leaks - requires topping off the oil & coolant when you stop for gas.

Because it was a former police car, the rear door locks, handles and seat belts were missing. I had to spend about $200 to replace the missing parts, took about 2 months for the parts to arrive.

General Comments:

Full-size, comfortable car, no pesky center console nor floor shifter to bang your knees on, very roomy, very spacious. The trunk could seat 3 adults (kidding).

Engine performance is identical to that of a 1996 Mustang GT - but you don't pay a Mustang GT's insurance rates. It's a beautiful thing.

23MPG - OUTSTANDING for a high-power V8!

Faults:

2 Power Windows needing repair (Will be fixed very soon), drivers door panel & armrest cracking (Repaired), headlights discoloring (Repaired). All are common problems with this model. Mechanically, a very solid car.

General Comments:

Car has been in family since early 1996, bought by parents with about 6,500 miles. I bought it from them last year when parents bought new Grand Marquis. For a newer car, it's rather nice, and it runs very well. I think it should last another 10 years easily.
