2009 Ford Edge
Summary:
Same old Ford
Faults:
Lack of interior space in the front seats.
Awkward turn signal lever.
Obscenely powerful torque steering.
Low roof line.
Bumpy, truck like ride.
Inconvenient, uncomfortable cabin design.
Poor gas mileage; 16MPG average.
General Comments:
Looks good on the outside.
My 12 year old V8 Explorer Limited handles better and gives better gas mileage and has more room.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I agree with the previous comment, these negative things should've been noticed on the test drive. It begs the question... why'd you buy the vehicle???

Dang, why'd you give up your old Ford Explorer then. I presume you did a test drive. That's probably presuming too much. This review just highlights the importance of checking out a vehicle before you buy, especially if you buy sight unseen.

I rented a fully loaded Edge for a week. Drove it daily, and took it on an extended trip from San Antonio to Austin, loaded with passengers.
The ride was comfy and it felt solid.
Acceleration was OK - I didn't expect it to drive like a sports car.
The gas mileage was not up to par with Ford's claims.
Forget the computer system - although loaded with cool functions - it didn't operate properly all the time. I took the time to familiarize myself with the system and sync my iPhone 4 up to it. The touch sensitive screen is bogus; even with a light touch, you find yourself repeatedly hitting your selections.
In addition the emergency flasher button is in the center of the console, and when reaching for the other buttons, your hand accidentally activates it.
The other thing is the computer repeatedly crashes and restarts (OS is by Microsoft).
The Bluetooth worked OK - the stereo is great, but if you hook up your iPhone or iPod, the interface for accessing your tunes is less than desirable, and the steering wheel controls are clumsy.
The interior quality is high level - nice leather, comfy seats and passengers have plenty of room. The rear storage area is OK, but there is no canopy to cover your items and keep peeping eyes away.
Overall, I liked the ride and creature comforts, but the computer system, which was a cool option, but was not worth the hassle. If I owned this car, the computer would be a frustrating let down.
I can't comment on engine reliability since I only drove it for a week.

Almost all of these should have been noticed on a test drive.
