Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Steering wheel sits too low, and doesn't tilt only 2 inches from top to bottom. It's because the pivot point is down lower in the steering column, instead of it being near the steering wheel itself.

Also the throttle is touchy when taking off.

Other than that, it's transportation.

Faults:

It has had absolutely no repairs over 101,000 miles.

May now need wheel bearings. Replaced original tires at 101,000 miles. The most reliable car I have ever owned.

General Comments:

Incredibly reliable, and excellent highway mileage; over 30 mpg with typical 75 mph speed. The car is not fancy, but suits my height (6'4") well, and performs well in Illinois weather and road conditions.

Faults:

Driver's side door ajar warning light came on after its first bath; stayed on for 3 hours then just disappeared...

The radio base/volume/treble keeping drifting in and out, producing the most annoying sound to any CD played on it...AS MY ONLY PERSONAL SENSE OF FREEDOM is encountered when I am driving, can anyone please offer a resolution to the sound problem - PLEASE !!!!!

The front end sounds like the brake shoes are on too tight, and continuously wearing away at the rotors...

Produces enough brake dust on the front tires to totally cover the whitewall lettering on the tires.....gave up on attempting to keep them clean....

After 1 month of ownership, I had to replace the Alternator; with less than 75,000 km....

Makes a grinding sound when shifted into reverse....really scared about that....

General Comments:

I went from a 1999 Jeep TJ in above average, excellent condition, to the Ford Escape. Although I regretted selling my trouble-free, mint Jeep, I was pleasantly surprised to jump into this roomier, quieter, more comfortable SUV.

That being said, I am still nervous driving a Ford product, as I once owned a Mustang that developed transmission problems after 75,000 km; so I'm treating this vehicle like I treated my Jeep. I'm hopeful it will return the loyalty.

Faults:

Water pump replaced at 100,000 miles, covered by extended warranty.

110V AC inverter produces RF noise at 740 on the AM radio, annoying only if you listen to a somewhat distant station broadcasting at 740. Unfortunately, that's me.

General Comments:

Remarkably problem-free and well designed, especially considering that I have one of the first Escape Hybrids ever built.

Factory Continental Eco tires have low rolling resistance to improve mileage and are long lasting, but they are hard and noisy. Replaced with traditional tires for a quieter, more comfortable ride at a loss of a little more than 1 mpg.

Comfortable on long drives, though definitely not as cushy as my former Toyota Highlander. The only thing I would change is to add a cushion on the driver's door arm rest.

Faults:

It's been very reliable; however it came out of the dealership new with the headlights pointed way too low; and when I asked them to fix it under warranty they are still pointed too low. I should ask them to fix it again.

Really, it's good; but the wipers started to go after 2 years of driving; I guess that's about normal now; but wipers used to last longer. Minor, I know.

General Comments:

It isn't a really powerful driver; but I did buy it because it's an SUV that sits up high (we get snow here) and my wife likes SUV style. I liked that for an SUV type it gets great MPG! I get 29-36mpg typically. Once I got 40mpg.

I certainly wouldn't tow much with it; but at least we get the good MPG. I did want to support Ford's American build high tech effort, so we might lead the world again. No, I don't work for Ford or any; I just feel it's the patriotic thing to do if we build a good product, buy it.

The GPS system is nice, for it's day.
