It will get you from point A to B, and you don't have to worry about someone wanting to steal it
Rear springs had to be replaced.
Transmission oil cooling lines were leaking around 50000 kms.
Parking brake actuating lever on one side started sticking, even while the parking brake is released. As a result, one of the back wheels dragged quite a bit while driving. One time, one of the back wheels locked right up while driving on an icy road, and the vehicle completely lost control as a result.
Idle mixture valve.
Timing belt 150000 kms.
Alternator 176000 kms.
Radiator fan motor 180000 kms.
Brake pads/shoes 160000 kms.
Battery 176000 kms.
Tires.
The automatic transmission was starting to hesitate to shift into overdrive by the time I got rid of it.
I've owned this car from the time it was brand new, and sold it about 2 years ago now. Overall it was a fairly good car and got reasonably good gas mileage. Besides routine maintenance, I never had any really serious problems with it.
The car was a bit gutless and had bland styling, but was a good cheap car. A few squeaks and rattles sometimes, but nothing major.

Don't buy one
Since I've purchased this car, I've had problems with it overheating. It won't start sometimes and it makes a loud embarrassing screeching sound, which til this day I haven't been able to fix. If anyone has any idea what it could be.. .please help.
This car has great horsepower (when it starts and is running), but it is highly unreliable... as you never know when it might or might not start.

The serpentine belt slips off when I drive over puddles.
The car is not reliable. I have changed the tensioner three times in the last two years.
Whenever I drive it over a puddle, the water splashes into the area where the belt is located and it must be stopping one of the pulleys just long enough to damage the tensioner. The belt falls off and the battery light comes on.
The car continues to run but with no alternator, power steering, or coolant going to the engine.
The only place where this car is good is in the desert. Other than that it doesn't have too many other problems except for always needing ball joints and wheel bearings.

The best American built economy car on the road
Carpet stains easily.
Tie-rod ends have been replaced twice.
This car is one of the best cars you can buy for the money. I have had no problems out of the car, and have almost 150000 miles on it.
I have taken very good care of the car. I have had no problems with the motor, transmission, or anything else in the car. My only expense has been a clutch that was replaced for the first time at 105k miles.
If people would just take of the car and do everything the service guide says in the owners manual, then the car will last for a very long time. And I get about 30mpg!

Small, efficient, and cheap
So far no problems really. Had to change the battery when I first bought it. I got one warning ticket because whoever had the car originally did not wire the aftermarket cd player right. My taillights were out because of that.
The car runs good; even after sitting for over a year. The car handles good, and gets good gas mileage. I get around 30-32 on backroads.

You may have already done this but check the belt (s)? I drove a borrowed Focus that did the same thing and the damn serpentine belt was slipping, gave the car back before I had to fix it (it was under warranty in her name) Just a thought.
