1998 Ford Escort SE
Summary:
GREAT...Reliable and fair priced
Faults:
My only issues were the rotors. I had to replace them twice, but it wasn't very expensive and I think it had to do with they way I drive.
Around 127,000 (guessing on miles) my clutch went out. That cost me $1000. But I don't blame the car, clutches wear out with poor driving and well I learned to drive stick with this car and I didn't treat it the best.
Aside from those three things I had no other problems. It was an awesome car, I would still have it today except for the car accident : (
General Comments:

I can understand your frustration. I'm having constant problems with my low mileage '89 Chrysler Lebaron convertible that it shouldn't be having. But, I noticed you bought your car with a fair amount of mileage for an economy car and had A LOT of miles on it at the time of your review. You can expect major things to start going wrong on most cars with after 100k miles, with the exception of a select few models. If your original engine and transmission lasted over 200k miles, you should count your blessings! To have to replace the same parts more than once though would annoy the crap out of me as well. My car overheated and left me stranded 4 months ago. Just last week, it overheated and left me stranded again. I can't take this! I'm looking to buy a '97-'02 Escort as a replacement and they're sounding pretty good to me right now.
