Faults:

Nothing, still running strong. I'm the second owner. And have all the previous records and I know the previous owner.

General Comments:

The Ford Excursion is the ultimate SUV. I owned a Chevy Suburban 2500 and loved it. I was going to purchase another, and was not even thinking about the Excursion, let alone a diesel. I drove the Excursion and fell in love.

I can fit the wife and 5 kids with the luggage inside the vehicle, pull my bass boat and get 18 to 20 MPG. Awesome ride, very roomy, and better MPG than I got with the Suburban. My wife likes driving it as well.

I love it and would buy it again.

Faults:

AC compressor $600.

Running board light sockets all had to be replaced. Whoever owned the truck previously changed the bulbs, but didn't seal the sockets and lamps correctly, so water got in them. I wanted them to work, so I paid 300 to fix all four.

Otherwise, nothing.

General Comments:

I love this truck. I have no family or kids, and I don't haul or move anything, but I wanted one so bad.

I bought it in 2008 when gas peaked at four bucks a gallon, and got a steal on it; four grand below retail, and it's in excellent shape.

It's extremely comfortable when you're on a long road trip, so I normally have to stop every so often, so I don't fall asleep. Yes it's like sitting on a couch.

I have the V-10; gas mileage is horrible, 11 combined city and highway, but I've seen it get as high as 15 one time. It's well worth the gas mileage for everything you enjoy and get out of it.

Winter driving is great; it does pretty well, even on ice, but when it slides, it slides, but anything will somehow slide on ice. I feel very safe in it, and it kind of makes you feel like you're completely safe on the road.

When I have to scrape ice off the windshield or hand wax it, you need a steppy stool or small ladder, but once again it's well worth it.

This monster also has a lot of power and is an excellent highway cruiser. I will keep it forever.

Faults:

I replaced the automatic door locks. They went out at about 60000 miles at about $60 each. The dealer cost to replace them all would have been $900.

Exhaust leak at 80,000 miles. (probably caused by 4x4 trip), it just needed to be welded.

Replaced radiator cap at 98000. When you do a flush and hoses, make sure you replace the cap also. If it fails, you will heat up.

The driver side front hub will not lock automatically. I have no desire to replace it since it has manually locking hubs. One of the many great pluses about this vehicle.

Before the warranty had expired, Ford replaced the CD player and one of the five power jacks.

Ford recalled and replaced a part with the cruise control. I never experienced a problem with it though.

General Comments:

Drawbacks;

Spark plugs are a pain to replace.

10.6 city mpg and 13 hwy mpg. But it's not worth complaining about since I already knew this when I bought it.

Built on the F350 truck platform, this is a great vehicle.

I have had no mechanical problems with this vehicle, other than the automatic front hub.

It is comfortable, and you sit high.

The paint (no fading) and interior still look great, even though it endures hot desert summers.

A family member broke the power passenger mirror. It was an average cost, but very easy to replace.

Replaced; 60000 miles on front brake pads, 83000 on rear pads, still looked great.

I replaced the fan belt at 96000 miles and it still looked great, and was very simple to replace.

I have towed another car 500 miles up to and into the mountains, and it did outstanding. I never needed more power.

Engine sounds great.

Very easy to drive.

Lots of cup holders and power jacks.

Looks great inside and out.

Very versatile, the back seat can be removed and the middle seat can be folded down, giving a 4'x8' cargo room from the back gate to the front seats.

Safe. It is a 6000 pound truck rolling down the street; that leaves lots of metal around you for protection.

Very reliable, and from what I have heard, the Triton engines are very high mileage. I know someone that has 340,000 miles on a Triton. No issues, just maintain it.

I am not partial to any particular car manufacturer, but after owning this vehicle, I would say Ford makes a great truck.

I would highly recommend this vehicle.
