1996 Ford Expedition XLT V8
Summary:
10 years, 175,000 miles - great vehicle
Faults:
Ball joints needed to be replaced about 170,000 miles.
General Comments:
This vehicle is a workhorse. It has a small V8 pushrod engine so the performance is not as exciting as the newer style overhead cam engines... but the thing just keeps running.
Runs better now than it did when I bought it new.
Regular maintenance has resulted in a very reliable vehicle. I wouldn't hesitate to take it cross country right now.
Driver seat is a bit ragged given the 10 years in service. Could get it restuffed for about $150.
Not the best on gas (15 around town) but the engine is powerful enough so you don't have to lean on the pedal.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Just so you know I worked at a Ford Dealer when the 96 Expeditions came out. so to confirm the above comment they do exist. I will say this though it was great to be able to see the Bronco and the Expedition side by side.

I want to buy an Expedition 1996, but I am scared of the age / engine performance.
