1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4
Summary:
I refuse to drive anything else!!
Faults:
Ball joints were bad when I picked up the car (56000 miles), but since I didn't allow my husband to drive it, he didn't know. Only when we took a trip, did he say there is something wrong. It was still under warranty, so I got them replaced free.
Also, it needed a front end alignment. Which was done at the same time as the ball joints.
The seats look like the leather is wearing away in some spots.
I do not like that the rear windshield wiper is on the paint... very bad design, and the scratches prove that! Also, it doesn't work.
When CD player is in use for awhile, it stops working (getting hot??).
General Comments:
I really like my E.B. Expedition. I would buy a second/another one in a heartbeat, although I wish that I hadn't gotten mine in black, because it is very tough to maintain.
Wood grain (interior) in the Eddie Bauer Edition would have been a plus.
I feel very safe in my Expedition, especially driving my children around. I get stared at whenever I go anywhere... it is a riot!
I make sure that I put $10 in the tank whenever it goes down a notch. I enjoy the onboard computer, that let's you know how many miles you have left before you run out of gas/average mpg/compass. Very helpful for me... just in case!!
I can't wait until spring when we have a His & Her's. Of course, I will get the newer Expy, and it won't be black. I won't drive anything else.
The basic car is a death machine compared to my Expedition. As a matter of fact, I'm selling my Mercury Sable LS wagon, because I don't feel safe in it anymore, and it has a 4 star crash test rating!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
