Faults:

Replaced the alternator at around 130,000 miles. $189.00

Blocked heater coil at b/c it was leaking water into cabin 120,000 miles $0 (did it myself)

New brake pads at around the same time at the heater coil $60.00 (put them in myself)

Fixed an oil leak $120.00.

General Comments:

This car has just been a great reliable vehicle for me in the 3 and a half years that I have owned it.

The only complaint that I have of the vehicle is the gas mileage. At 13 miles to the gallon living on a college student budget, well it doesn't really feel that great pumping $80 every 4 to 5 days.

But other than that, the car shows great and the paint has really held up, the car shines like it did the day I bought it. (never been waxed by me)

Great ride; if it weren't for the speedometer, I would know I was going 90 miles per hour on the highways.

The car has been up and down the east coast, and yet to have a single hiccup on any of our trips.

The first Ford I've owned, but not the last!

Faults:

Very few problems with this truck. I have replaced three coil packs and have replaced important suspension components.

General Comments:

I bought this truck needing a vehicle to tow my 12x14 work trailer. I loved the ride from the minute I got into it and have been happy with ever since. It can pull my trailer with more than a ton of roofing shingles in it and it has never denied me the power I have asked for. The Triton 5.4 V8 is a great workhorse.

I do have to mention that Ford made the 1999 to feel and ride like a truck; not like the newer model Expedition. My wife and I like to rent vehicles before we buy; we call the local rental agencies and ask if they can get the model we are looking for. This is much better than taking dealer rides out for several reasons: 1. dealers do not like to let their vehicles go for more than a little while 2. We have the piece of mind that if something were to happen to it the damage would be covered and 3. there is no sales pressure. We found the newer models to be a little soft and designed to ride more like a large car than a truck.

Be forewarned that if you do not have it in your budget to fix a large SUV then you should not buy one. Larger vehicles tend to be more to fix and require maintenance more often. So, if you are complaining about your large truck upkeep you need to ask yourself if you really NEED an SUV.

The Ford Expedition is one awesome truck and I would not give mine up for anything.

General Comments:

I purchased my Expedition a few months ago, and love it!

My wife and I rented a new Lincoln Navigator last summer for our daughter's wedding, and decided that was what we needed, but when I started looking at S.U.V.'s, I realized that the Expedition would probably fulfill all my needs.

We found a very nice one locally, which had been purchased new by the person who was selling it. He was meticulous about maintenance, and had every receipt and document pertaining to the vehicle since it was new.

It did have a new trans installed at about 50,000 km. Other than that... just regular maintenance and repairs.

We just last week took it on a road trip, driving approx. 3000 km.... 2300 miles. We couldn't be happier! It's luxurious, smooth, lots of power, lots of room inside, and a pleasure to drive.
