I love the truck
So far so good it looks to be a dependable vehicle.
Very nice interior. Lots of bells and whistles. Over all a very nice truck.

This vehicle was okay.
Alignment was consistently needed.
Changed tires a total of three times due to poor alignment.
Ford dealership was unable to align vehicle several times. After going to an independent alignment shop, the alignment problem was corrected.
Steering wheel paint peeled and chipped off after 30,000 miles.
At 35,000 miles, suspension piece broke, however, it was replaced.
After 45,000 miles, rattling became apparent.
After 100,000 miles, transmission became faulty. After a repair at the Ford dealership, the problem reappeared at approximately 109,000 miles. Transmission needed replacement.
Vehicle was very roomy.
High ground clearance allowed for great traffic visibility .
Vehicle was built fairly solid.
Overall a very nice vehicle in terms of durability, however, it can get very expensive to maintain.
Ford dealerships are generally very unreliable and were unable to repair my problems well.

One nice American SUV
My engine made a gunning noise in hot weather last summer.
Side Passenger Back Door Child lock locks automatically.
Resale Value?
This car is a wonderful family car. It has a good, quiet ride. The engine is just powerful enough. It is a good piece of American engineering, too.
I do not particularly like the integrated antenna.

I own a 2000 Ford Expedition. I notice the transmission slipping in Febuary and now it's at the dealer because it will not go over 40mph. This is a know problem with ford even though they are hasseling me to fix it. Also, the child safety lock does the same thing on my truck...

Do not buy!
Ignition coils, ignition coils, and more ignition coils.
Do not buy a Ford Expedition. We have a 2000 with the 4.6, and have had a lot of ignition coil problems. The car has 70,000 miles, and have replaced three already, waiting for others to go out anytime. At over $100 each (there are 8) plus labor, it is not cheap, and ignition coils should not go bad this early.
Ford knows about the design problem, and is not doing anything about it. Our vehicle was purchased as a certified pre-owned at a Ford dealer, and we also opted for the extended warranty, which was not cheap. Come to find out that these ignition coils are not covered.
This was our first and last Ford product, never again. Will probably look at imports. Poor warranty coverage along with bad design and poor quality, maybe this is why Ford is losing customers to imports. I really wanted to give Ford a shot, but never again. Ford better wake up.

My wife and I are having the same problems with our 2002 Ford Expedition. We bought the car in the fall of 2003. The ignition coils have gone out two times already. Then we found out that the extended warranty does not cover their replacement. So we have paid over $1000 for the coils and the fuel injector to be cleaned out. Somehow there is water getting into the coils, but the Ford dealership doesn't know how it is getting into that area. I will never buy a Ford again.

I have also had trouble with the back passenger side child safety lock. It's a strange thing.
I am now having trouble with the vehicle slipping. It does have 91,000 miles on it. I just hope it's not the transmission.
