2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4 Liter fuel

Summary:

This SUV has all the creature comforts that make it a real joy to drive

Faults:

My only complaint is the excessive amount of front brake dust. My wife loves her 20" chrome wheels, but, within two days of washing it, they look black from all the brake dust.

The fuel injector went bad at 17,000 miles. I thought it may have just been clogged, but the dealership, which covered everything, said that it was bad. I'm still not for sure if it was just a fluke, or if it is a defect that I'm going to have to deal with again later down the road.

General Comments:

Although not the most economical car we have ever owned, it has tons of power and is very comfortable to drive.

The 3rd row seating that electrically folds down into the floor is great. An easy way to gain additional space for groceries, etc... Definitely a far better set-up than previous SUV's we have owned, with the heavy removable seats.

The leather interior and console package are fabulous. We had seriously considered switching to the Chevy Tahoe, but all things being virtually even, the interior of the Expedition won us over.

We have towed a 20 foot open bow boat many times with ease and can hardly tell we are towing it.

This Eddie Bauer package has many little bells and whistles, that although we did not originally care one way or the other about, we now really enjoy.

The memory seating, adjustable pedals, dual climate control, mirrors that automatically turn slightly down to aid during backing-up, backup sensors that beep and even turn down my wifes blaring stereo so she can hear them, the in dash six disk CD player, and four different strategically placed power plugs for t.v.'s, etc... Make this SUV great for traveling or day to day driving.

I cannot say enough about the convenience of the fold into the floor 3rd row seating.

If gas prices drop and the above mentioned fuel injector turns out to be a fluke, I will definitely hold on to this car.

Summary:

Poor design

Faults:

Ring and Pinion have a design defect.

General Comments:

I am not impressed by Fords lack of service. Four repairs to common ring and pinion design problem and they still have not made any offers to replace or refund my money.

I spent over $48k on this lemon and Ford wants me to just accept that the ring and pinion make a loud whining noise.

Rack and pinion.

Have Ford do a power steering flush, it will make it a lot quieter.

2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4

Summary:

Well worth the money!

Faults:

Nothing has needed to be repaired.

General Comments:

Brake dust is a problem with this SUV. Power fold mirrors would be a nice touch. Additional room behind the third row would be useful.

The ride is great. Handles more like a van /car than a big SUV.

I have a 2003 expedition and I am considering turning it in under the lemon law. I have had many problems with the a/c. after about a half hour the a/c starts blowing hot instead of cold. the dealer told me that ford has to engineer a way to fix the problem. I live in Florida, it is very hot here! needless to say the a/c is still not fixed. I have also had the side panels replaced due to fading (the vehicle is only 6 months old!) the cigarette lighter (game plug) is not working. I was told it was wired wrong and fixed, but it is not. they have fixed several more problems satisfactorily, but I am very tired of hanging out at the dealership. they know me there and when they see me pull up, they groan. I am tired of it!

Summary:

A Vehicle you will buy over and over

Faults:

The only Complaint that I have is the Front wheels rims get very dirty from Brake dust.

General Comments:

The vehicle is amazing. The ride is unbelievable. If you have the money spend you won't regret this purchase. Third seat is great. If you don't need it just fold it into the floor. If you do need it just fold them up and anyone can sit back there. I fit eight people in mine and tow my Party Barge. Personnal key pads for my wife and I. When I hit the unlock button on my key pad the seats adjust to my settings and vice versa for her. A purchase you will LOVE.
