1994 Ford Explorer XT 6 cylinder.
Summary:
Absolutely loved that SUV and wish I still had it
Faults:
Best vehicle I have ever owned.
NEVER saw the inside of a shop except for one warranty recall on the rear window hardware.
Husband did regular maintenance like new brake pads, turning rotors, new hoses, etc.
General Comments:
I purchased my 1994 XL new in 1994 and just traded it in.
145,000 in-town miles when traded in.
Used synthetic oil with changes about every 5000 miles.
My husband backed into the door with his truck, and except for that one small dent, it still looked brand new inside and out.
I wanted another Explorer, but the new ones are just so much bigger than the older ones, and did not want to try my luck on an Escape.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

A ticking or tapping under the hood is normal, says the owners manual. My explorer started to tick at about 80,000 miles and stopped and I just started to hear it again and it has 150,000 miles on it now. I think that it is the type of gas or gas station used. Only high test for me 90+ in my 94 explorer.
