I have not had any problmem's with the truck.
I had a tps sensor to go bad. Quick fix.
I have been very happy with my truck.
It has taken me every where and got me back.
I would not buy a Chevy. Even though I am a mechanic.
I know what built Ford tough really means!

A reliable vehicle that is great looking
Speedometer became "bouncy" and stopped working at 120000 kilometers.
Body rust in rear wheel wells at 72000 kilometers.
Front Brakes replaced at 60000 kilometers, then again at 120000 kilometers.
Rear brakes replaced at 125000 kilometers.
Very reliable vehicle, never has left me stranded.
Gas mileage is poor, but it is a truck.
Interior fit and finish is not as refined as comparable GM models of this year.
Front bench seats are not supportive, and become uncomfortable for long trips.
Good vehicle overall.
Will purchase another Ford Vehicle again.

Awesome off-road vehicle
I purchased an extended warranty from the dealership when I purchased the truck. The previous owner had leased it. The 3-year warranty just ran out in January - and I got my money's worth! The most expensive job was the front ball joints. They had never been serviced, and it took two strong guys at the shop to take them out! I had the brakes done at the same time.
Leaking hose from clutch.
Starter Motor.
Fuel Pump.
All covered under warranty!
This is an excellent off-road vehicle. It has the power to get over and through stuff that the other trucks have trouble with!
It handles well in the city, but is tough on gas.
Comfortable on the Highway, but I need my lower back support.
Love the short bow, regular cab for visibility and for easier parking!

Good value work horse
The rear gas tank began leaking in 2001. The front gas tank has now begun to leak too so I must replace them both.
The first rust spot has just appeared above the wheel on the rear drivers side quarter panel.
Brakes do seam to wear quickly as I've had to replace rotors and pads twice in 50,000 miles.
The manual 4 speed transmission made by Mazda - a subsidiary of Ford, had to be rebuilt at a cost of $1500 including new clutch after just 100,000 miles. This may be due to hauling boat and trailer.
I change the oil and filter every 6000 miles and have had no engine problems. The AC still works too and that's why I haven't yet traded it.
The 6 cylinder sucks a bit on hills, but it has a strong pull at low speed like on the boat ramps. It's a very comfortable ride for a pickup truck.

A high performance bargain
Absolutely nothing went wrong with my 1995 Lightning.
The 1995 Lightning handles very well, but at the expense of a compliant or forgiving ride. The ride can be downright harsh at times.
The driving position was somewhat cramped for my 6'3" frame. This was due to the special performance (Recarro style) bucket seats located further forward than taller drivers might like.
Everything remained rock solid and held up very well during my 5 years and nearly 140,000 miles with the Lightning.

It is correctly written L-I-G-H-T-N-I-N-G, (no "E"). I have a 94 the only problem he has had was a bent push rod (that's what street racing gets you).Now it's a 408 stroker with a.650 solid lift cam with a 13psi vortec. Yet I still drive it on the street. best mod what so ever mass air conversion kit!!!
