1999 Ford F150 Extended Cab 2wd 4.6L V8

Summary:

Savior

General Comments:

I absolutely love my truck! It has never left me stranded.

I got into an accident with this truck a few months back and my airbags deployed (glad they did because I got pretty shaken up). I can't afford to fix the damage, so I cut out the air bags, and the truck still runs and drives like the day I bought it. My front bumper is a little messed up, but other than that, there is nothing wrong, the thing is a tank!

Sounds like your truck has fared you well! But, one thing is is on my mind: If you cut out the airbags, how will it pass inspection?

Because most mechanics don't actually check them.

1999 Ford F150 XLT Extended Cab 4x4 5.4L Triton

Summary:

Best truck I have ever owned

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with this truck. I had to replace the fuel pump at about 120,000, but that is to be expected.

General Comments:

This truck by far is the best truck that I have ever owned. I love this truck to death. This truck has a lot of power, has a great 4 wheel drive system, and is very comfortable to drive. I feel like I am driving my wife's car and not a truck.

I have had this truck since it was brand new for about 11 years now, it has never let me down. Once this one finally does give up the ghost, I will without any doubt buy another one.

1999 Ford F150 XLT V6

Summary:

F150 is THE truck to buy

Faults:

Nothing at all has gone wrong with my F150. It is a very reliable truck. Other than standard maintenance such as oil changes, brakes, tires, and tune-ups, it has not cost me a thing in repairs.

General Comments:

I have the single cab version, but there is still plenty of room to lean the seat back comfortably.

There is plenty of storage space.

The step side is helpful and sturdy, it's not slippery or too small.

All in all this truck is wonderful, I love it, and it's pretty quick too.

1999 Ford F150 XLT 2wd 5.4 V8

Summary:

Great truck, comforable on the highway, tough enough for work

Faults:

Cap on the end of the shifter, overdrive on/off fell off.

Leaks water through roof in the back, somewhere above the sliding rear window.

Passenger side power door lock is weak and works %10 of the time.

Power mirror switch doesn't move mirrors to the left. Up down and right work.

The needle for the shift indicator sits about 1/4 to the right of where its supposed to be. In Park the needle doesnt point right at the P. it looks like this, | is the needle

P| D N R 2 1.

Front end steering and suspension components squeak like crazy. Started after a day of driving through deep water. Tried lubing everything with WD-40, then grease. still no good. took it to local ford dealer and they wanted $733 to replace A-arms and a few other things. seems to me that its the A-arm bushings or bearings/seals not the aarm itself.

Drivers seat sags a little toward the door from getting in and out, a piece is broken off and stick through the seat once when I was getting in. theres a small hole in the seat now.

General Comments:

Truck feels strong and quick with the 5.4 V8.

Never had the battery die from leaving a door open, light on.

Great to drive on the highway. comfortable ride, great power.

Truck has had held up pretty well considering its hard life. everything I don't like about it could be fixed for less than $1000 at a dealer.
