Faults:

The driveshaft has a slip yoke, which needed greasing because of a clunking upon takeoff.

6-CD player stopped working.

Alternator failure at 70,000 miles.

General Comments:

This is one of the best trucks on the road. It has needed almost nothing, aside from routine oil changes, etc. Never failed to start, or drive any distance, and is extremely reliable, even as the alternator was going out, it still managed to get itself started until a replacement was bought.

This truck will tow down a house, and drag it cross country without missing a beat. The 7.3 liter Powerstroke turbo diesel is a beast of an engine, and can handle just about anything you throw at it. It tows our boat, and ~10,000 pound loaded RV through mountains with ease. The transmission works well, as long as you keep up with its maintenance, as it is the weakest point of these trucks. The electronic (shift on the fly) four wheel drive system has always worked flawlessly, used about 15-20 times per year.

The interior is enormous, the back seat is just as roomy as up front, and there is a large storage area behind the rear seat-back. There are many storage areas throughout, including a large center console between the front bucket seats. The seats are surprisingly comfortable on long trips, with the 8-way power adjustments, and lumbar support.

The diesel engine is also very good on fuel. On long road trips, it has achieved around 22-25 miles per gallon, with the A/C on at about 65-70 mph. City mileage is poor, however, at about 12-15 miles per gallon.

I will drive this truck until the wheels fall off. I realistically expect it to last at least another 400,000 miles.

Faults:

The main brake line rusted, causing a catastrophic loss of braking power. No wheel had braking power.

Steering has a constant pull to the left.

The truck bed is rusting from the inside out.

General Comments:

It drives like a truck. Leaf suspension is not comfortable on Michigan roads.

Faults:

My F250 XLT SUPER DUTY CREW CAB 4X4 system has not functioned well under limited/non-commercial use. The AUTO locking hub system has particularly not worked during snowplowing, therefore, I have resorted to manually locking the hubs. Not very convenient during a snowstorm.

Interior light fails to turn off when vehicle is exited. Possibly bad sensor. Has not worked properly since second year.

General Comments:

Vehicle is very expensive to run due to low fuel economy even with smallest engine available through manufacturer.
