2003 Ford F250 Super Duty Lariat 5.4L V8

Summary:

A great hauler if you can afford the gas

Faults:

Driver's side manual lock-out hub broke gear inside.

Blew a spark plug and had to get an insert fitted to the head.

General Comments:

Great hard working truck. This tank would go almost anywhere, even without the 4WD activated. Had an incredible posi rear end.

The truck is huge. I had a high rise topper, side steps and a brush guard on it, and it weighed in at 7200 pounds empty (with me in it, weighed at trash dump). 5.4L was sluggish for this truck, but always did what was asked of it. I hauled heaping loads of mulch that never even moved the rear suspension.

I would have kept this truck if I could have afforded the gas. When I bought the truck, I worked only 2 miles away. I got laid off, then got a new job 27 miles away. Gas was killing me, so I traded it on a Ram 1500 quad cab V6.

2003 Ford F250 Super Duty XL 6.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Great reliable work truck if you have the money to keep it running

Faults:

Truck will randomly not start sometimes; give it ten minutes and it starts fine.

General Comments:

Truck runs great with no problems, hasn't left me walking yet.

Bench seat is very uncomfortable on longer trips.

Great work truck with lots of power, will pull just about anything you put behind it.

Expensive to maintain; 100 dollar air filter, 130 dollar fuel filters, 85 dollar oil change.

2003 Ford F250 Super Duty 6.0 PSD

Summary:

If you want something for working, this is it!

Faults:

I had the EGR valve alarm on me, which caused the truck to shut down. It came right back to life as I was rolling down the road.

Second time it happened when I pushed the clutch in to down shift; dumped the clutch and it came back to life.

Dealer wants 300 for new EGR valve, but I'm told it can be cleaned and put back in.

Noisy ball joint, but still tight.

General Comments:

This is a great work truck, with an emphasis on work. Very comfortable, as I do take it on long distance trips pulling my 20' gooseneck flatbed trailer.

Awesome power; pulls like there is no tomorrow, big step up from a 1/2 ton.
