2006 Ford Fusion Milan Premier 2.3

Summary:

Excellent Car except the arm rest

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This review is for a Mercury Milan Premier. The web site does not have the Milan in the selection for mercury cars yet.

I know that the fusion is the same car, or so I am told.

The car drives 100X better than my old SUV and I am getting about 25mpg average with most of it being mid city driving.

My only issue with the car is that the center arm rest for the front seat occupants is so short that you can’t drive and relax you right arm at the same time. The solution is to drive with your left arm, but guess what, the radio controls on the steering wheel are on the right side.

I don’t see how Mercury/Ford could have built such a perfect car and overlooked such an obvious thing.

I have 22,000 miles on the car now and it drives as it did when new. The car handles great in the rain and interior noise is very low.

The car will surprise you in room with all categories being very pleasing except the windshield sets a bit too far back and intrudes into head space.

I noticed that same problem. I was driving an Expedition previous to the 2006 Fusion and I don't know what what Ford was thinking as far as the arm rest goes. Must have had someone with long arms testing the car.

The console storage is ridiculously small. Other than that I like the car.

2006 Ford Fusion SEL Black on Black 3.0

Summary:

The Best FWD/AWD Ford Sedan period.!!

Faults:

None so far...

General Comments:

I've purchased the Fusion SEL Black on Black with leather interior.

The interior is beautiful and made in high quality materials. My friends all thought it was an Audi, but after seeing the blue oval they were surprised.

The rear seat is very comfortable with a lot of foot and knee room. The head rest are positioned well - good for visibility. Just wish there was rear seat AC vents.

I've got the 3.0 V-6, which is more than adequate when merging. I've installed a K&N air filter and it helps even more in acceleration and response.

The only thing I wished Ford did, was to change the interior instrument lights to blue or white. I don't like the old green color, or better yet the 120 color led intrument panel used in the Mustang.

This is an update with my car: I have just replaced the weather strips (due to abnormal wear) and gotten the computer re-programmed. So far, the car has 4000 miles and is running strong, and has no other problems. This car is still getting the bugs worked out, but is by far the best Ford vehicle at this moment.

2006 Ford Fusion SE 3.0 V6

Summary:

Incredible value, great car

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I just purchased the SE model with leather seats. Very comfortable, ride is smooth and the transmission shifts seamlessly. The 220hp V6 has an abundance of power that seems to be available anywhere in the rev range. I imagine this is due to the 6 speed automatic. There is a very minor stumble when transitioning from the brake pedal to the gas pedal at very slow speeds. Other than that, I am amazed at how well a 6 speed transmission can perform.

The most amazing part of this car (to me) is the value. I purchased a very powerful, extremely comfortable car which rivals cars that cost thousands more.

Fit and finish is very good. Some minor components seem a little on the cheap side (dashboard glove box) but overall a lot more car than I thought I could get for the low to mid 20's.

The Fusion is an awesome car. It's light years ahead of Camry and Accord. As for Ford service...well, unfortunately it is not very good. In our area only Toyota has a worse reputation for poor customer service. I love Fords and have never had any trouble with any of the more than a dozen we've owned, but I refuse to let the Ford dealer even do the maintenance. I do it myself. Luckily I've never had a problem under warranty.
