1997 Ford Mustang LX 3.8L OHV V6

Summary:

A beautiful car with hideous reliability

Faults:

I have experienced oil leaks and window leaks in the quarter glass.

Broken interior parts (not my fault, I detail cars).

Two factory compact disk players broke.

Parking brake malfunctions and a bad throw out bearing on the clutch.

The windshield wiper switch malfunctions and the air conditioning noise is too loud.

Currently, my speedometer does not work, nor does my power driver's seat.

General Comments:

My 1997 Ford Mustang started out as a very powerful car with lots of torque thrust through every gear.

However, the car is now starting to show it's age and as much as I love the body style, the way it drove when it was new, and the overall ergonomics, I cannot recommend this car or any other Ford to potential buyers.

1997 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L

Summary:

It was a good bargain for its performance

Faults:

When I first got it, the engine was really dirty, but that was it. The rest of the car is great.

General Comments:

It runs greats. Good acceleration. Has good handling. On the freeway you'll just fly and not even know it.

I Really think the Mustang GT is very peppy and has great throttle response at high RPMs, also it has a throaty sound with an aftermarket exhaust for such a small V8. In all I would give the Mustang GT 4.6 a 6 on a scale of 1-10!

1997 Ford Mustang 3.8 V6

Summary:

An affordable, sporty, powerhouse - if only a 6 cylinder!

Faults:

I have few complaints about this car. The brakes have been causing a shimmy in the steering, but I believe that is due to the fact that they are still factory and weren't broken in properly. The car was originally a rental. I'm having that fixed now.

General Comments:

This car has been very reliable and inexpensive to operate.

It has plenty of power and the maneuverability is awesome!

In my opinion it's the best car ever made!

This car is the best!!! Put some Flowmaster and an K&N Airfilter in, and you will have one fast car.

1997 Ford Mustang GT 3.8L V8

Summary:

Excellent ride for an excellent price

Faults:

The top is wearing, but is still in good shape.

General Comments:

I would like more movement (backwards) in the driver's seat, but the seats are super comfortable.

Lots of power off the line, handles well in traffic.

Huge blind spots when the top is up (but that is to be expected in a convertible).

1997 Ford Mustang 3.8

Summary:

All around greatness

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

I've owned a Camaro, and this is a better car. Add K&N filters, split fire plugs (big power increase) and flowmasters, and you have one quick car. And always remember get rid of the HP robbing air silencer.

I just bought a 1997 Ford Mustang. It is a 3.8 V6. It is the best car I have owned. The 5 speed manual transmission makes it a very fast car off the line and on the freeway.

I have a 1998 Mustang GT and it kicks ass, but I am also looking for extra horse power as well. I have done lots of work to the outside to make it look good, now it's time to beef it up a little.

Regarding your comments about the air silencer, where is it so I can take it out?

Thanks.

Go to http://www.corral.net and search the forums for some good info.

The easiest way to get power from the 4.6L is a blower. Costs are in the $3000 ballpark... look for one with under 8lbs of boost. Centrifugal for a 5-speed and a twin screw blower for automatic cars.
