The Ford Mustang truely is America's pony car.
The car has excellent handling and great power.
When buying make sure to get the 5-speed. Fords 5-speeds are a whole second faster than automatics.
The interior design is top notch!

Good performance, good reliablity... if you want a sports coupe, buy the Mustang!
Factory defect rear axle ball bearing had to be replaced at about 60,000 miles. ($200) Electrical sensor replacement at about 63,000 miles ($140).
The Mustang GT is an excellent car as long as you are buying it for the right reasons. I have previously owned a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Convertible (which there is a also a review for), and I was the instigating force in convincing my fiance to buy this car. The engine is very good as long as you don't mind revving it a bit. It will launch off the line, but it suffers a little with midrange punch. It is relatively confortable on the interior as long as backseats are primarly used for storage space, as we use them. The clutch is one of the heaviest you will find, but it is bearable. The shifter is balky (don't expect an S2000 here, but then again it's not supposed to be). Despite the complaints I would recommend getting the manual as ford's automatics are not the best. This is definitely the car to buy (now that the Camaro and Firebird have met their demise). Keep in mind that this car handles quite well, accelerates well, brakes very well and is comfortable for 2 people and a fair amount of luggage. The trunk is awkward, but usable. The exhaust note is also excellent. The reliability on this car has been excellent for a sports car, but keep in mind they we do not abuse this car. Take care of it and you will have a wonderful experience. Thumbs up to Ford... we are anxiously awaiting the 2005 model!

The six-cylinder Mustang is a reliable, fun car at a bargain price!
Basically maintenance items, one taillight blew, which owner's manual stated was a dealer-service item, Haynes book showed me how to replace it. Windshield wiper blades, oil changes, trans fluid change, brake fluid change.
I love the way this car feels----like one solid piece to me, much as my old Dodge Dart used to feel, much more "solid" than my 85 Chrysler New Yorker with the dreaded Mitsubishi 2.6 liter engine!
For the most part, very well engineered, feels like a comfortable part of you, as if destined to be a classic.
However, could the space between the trunk and rear seat been made to totally "open up" when the seats are put down?

Safe and fun combined...rare!
For those with unknown chirping in the dash... its the windshield. Press it when it squeaks...you'll see.
AC went out at 25k, but was covered by warranty.
GET A Warranty!!! Get an Extended Warranty if you plan to keep the car past the 36k fact warranty. It will need some maintenance, as will all cars. Well, maybe not a Honda :) But a sports car requires a little upkeep.
Totalled mine going 65 mph into the back of a fully stopped Suburban (never mind my stupidity)...the point is...
My Passenger AND I walked away just FINE!!! Not even a scrape.

My first car was a Honda Accord, my second was a '99 Mustang that I still have and love. My Honda went through two transmissions and one full engine, no it was NOT covered my Honda Warranty, the Japanese are stingy. My Mustang is now at 92,000 miles. and the only thing I've ever had to replace was the steering fluid pump because I wore it out. Sorry, but Honda's suck, Ford rules.
