2000 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 SOHC

Summary:

The true mean machine!

Faults:

The front seat belts give some problems.

Other than that, no problems at all.

General Comments:

The Mustang is a VERY sharp car.

Drives and handles like nothing I've driven before.

Very responsive.

A sure eye catcher.

Recommendations: Try upgrading to a bigger throttle body, adding cool air intake, exhaust, and under drive pulleys. Made a HUGE difference. RUNS AWESOME!

So it's a great car only after you get under the hood and start upgrading throttle body etc? My mustang GT was a hunka junka that handled abominably and had only mediocre performance.

Since when did Mustangs handle well?

I'm currently driving my 7th Mustang since 1966. It is now seven years old, and like all my Mustangs it has been flawless. The newer Mustangs do handle far better than past models, but if I had to get to a hospital in a hurry, I'd hop in my 4-cylinder Fusion due to far more stable handling. Mustangs have never generated confidence in situations requiring high-speed handling and maneuverability. I can whip through traffic at high speed in the Fusion without any fear at all. And since both my Mustang and Fusion are limited to 120mph and will hit that in 4th gear without breathing hard, the only real advantage to driving the Mustang is looking cool.

2000 Ford Mustang Convertible V6

Summary:

A customer service nightmare

Faults:

Back brakes seized up at 50,000km.

Windshield sprayers don't work on one side, the other side only gets about a half spray.

Frame cracked where left controller arm meets it. Somewhere between 55-65,000km.

Frame cracked where right controller arm meets it. Somewhere between 55-65,000km.

Front speakers seem to be failing.

Paint chips very easily. There are even chips on the wing which I have no idea how those occurred. I have washed the car with a sponge since day 1.

General Comments:

My mustang handles really well even if it feels heavy at times.

There is ample horsepower and the addition of dual exhaust really makes a difference.

I would suggest a K&N air filter if you buy a v6.

I'm very upset at the lack of help I get from Ford regarding both sides of my frame being compromised. They say that Ford will not cover any cost because the crack is just being reported now (5000km out of warranty when I noticed it). The crack has obviously been there longer than 5000km. Unfortunately I don't check my frame for cracks every few thousand km... like every good customer should..?

Customer service is reluctant to help and gives the same canned responses as their supervisors.

I will never buy another Ford again.

Amen to never buying Ford again. I don't think I'll ever buy Volvo, Jaguar, or Land Rover either now that Ford's got is grubby hands on them.

No other car company that I've ever heard of has as many problems appear immediately after warranty expiration. No other car company takes 4 to 6 hours to change an oil filter.

I woe the day I bought a mustang when I could have bought two Hyundais or Kias. They go just as fast and have much better warranties.

I've had bad past experiences with Ford also, and I don't think ill buy another one. The last one I bought the engine broke down at 15000 miles and I bought it at 5 miles. And ill say that I am a careful driver, (no flooring and such) but I had to pay extra for the repair. : (

2010 Ford Edge, one owner. To date 2 sets of tires, filter and fluid changes, and new mats. Company car, not mine, so I have zero bias. I like the all wheel drive SEL a great deal.
