2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 32 V V8 305 HP

Summary:

Blast to drive and great value!

Faults:

Engine light came on at about 8000 KMS, fault with the gas cap and neck assembly. Fixed under warranty.

Rear brake pads went at 45,000 KMS, damaged rotors. Very odd to have rear pads go before fronts. Was told ford used a very soft pad for the rear on the Mach.

Leaking hydro boost at 59,000 KMS, replaced under warranty.

General Comments:

Love my Mach, it's fast exclusive and looks great. Only 500 2003's sold in Canada. The handling is good, but the solid rear axle can cause challenges at times. You need to know how to handle this car at the limits which makes it very fun to drive.

A few issues with fit and finish, but hey it's a mustang. Part of the charm is that the car has character.

I'm keeping this car, adding some new hardware and go fast parts every year. All hail the Stang!

2003 Ford Mustang GT Convertible 4.6L V8

Summary:

Fun and Fast in the open air !!!!!

Faults:

So far nothing, but adding gas.

General Comments:

The car performs well stock, but start adding some mods and it really shines.

Nothing like a V8 sound with the top down on a sunny day.

Handles great with the modified suspension.

Still turns heads everywhere it goes.

2003 Ford Mustang Cobra 4.6 supercharged

Summary:

Best bang for buck sports car out

Faults:

The paint quality isn't that great.

General Comments:

Highs: Acceleration

Cool seats

6 speed transmission

390 horse power.

Lows: Water/Ice traction

No Automatic for 03/04 cobras

Buying a lot of tires.

I have had the car for a year now and enjoy it more everyday. Almost as fast as a 02/04 Corvette z06 in the 1/4 mile says a lot cause the car costs 15,000 less than the z06.

If you can drive, it is faster than corvettes. And ALL Cobras are manual. why would you want anything else?

Gabe S.

Yeah, a Cobra could beat a Z06 if you know how to drive it, but 05-06 models of a Z06 will dominate any Cobra on the street. The upcoming Z06 will pump up to 505hp.

2003 Ford Mustang Pony 3.8

Summary:

Its now as sporty as they come

Faults:

With only the few km we put on it, no problems-proven car and drivetrain.

General Comments:

There are few sporty cars left to look at-this one looks like a million bucks with the GT package, but with 6 cylinder, the PONY package, it looks nice, gets 30 mpg, and rides nicely.

I too own a 2003 Mustang 6 cylinder convertible that has 335,000 miles on the original engine and drivetrain. Untouched except for oil changes to the engine. I would recommend it 10 times over.

2003 Ford Mustang GT Convertible Centennial Edit 4.6 Litre 2V

Summary:

A big bang for the buck!

Faults:

Nothing major to this point. It has a few minor defects. One of these defects is a creaking in the rear area where the top folds down. The other defect is a small gap in between the front and rear window on the driver's side.

General Comments:

This car is an absolute blast to drive. The power is sometimes overwhelming (especially when coming from a Jeep TJ).The ergonomics leaves something to be desired. With the driver's seat 3/4 of the way back you cannot reach the stereo. One of the best things about these cars is the abundance of aftermarket performance parts. Something as little as a aftermarket cat back exhaust wakes it up. The exhaust note is incredible on the V-8, especially after the installation of a cat back.

Hay man. Why would any one want to get a auto tranny in a performance car??? stick shift delivers all of the engines hp to the rear tires, meaning more fun.

I understand some people don't want to worry about shifting in their daily driver (understandable if you commute in rush hour traffic) but I happen to agree. I have a V6 5-speed convertible, and feel it is more of a driver's car than an automatic GT, despite the power deficit.

I got the auto because I had major knee surgery and cannot push a clutch in any longer. I installed a 2800 stall torque converter, 4.10's and SCT tuner. Anyone want to crack on my automatic anymore? I'm 37 and enjoy the true pleasure of driving it, not racing in the streets!

An auto with the mods he listed will blow a manual out of the water. Autos are awesome for drag racing and make up for the small loss of power with the lightning fast shifts compared to a stick where you would have to power-shift the hell out of your car and still not be as fast. For auto-cross and roll racing a stick is better, but I doubt the average person is using a mustang gt for either. Auto is also a lot more comfortable for daily driving and rush hour.
