Faults:

Started to misfire @ 2000 RPM under load. Checked the plugs, gap was excessive. These plugs appeared to be OEM (@ 135000 miles). Replaced both the plugs and plug wires. Symptoms disappeared.

Brakes felt "mushy" @ 128000 miles, investigated and found a very small leak @ a rustued fitting just above the differential. Replaced the brake lines with new, brakes are restored.

A/C compressor was siezed when we bought it, previous owner stated a shop wanted over $800 to repair. Even though I know I could o it for less, A/C is not needed that badly.

General Comments:

Body fit and finish very good. The clear coat on the (red) hood is flaking, exposing the dull red below. No real necessity to repaint.

Surprisingly the fuel economy is much better than expected. At highway speeds it averages >25MPG. I had an 85 2.3 liter and was disappointed with the fuel economy. The 2 plugs per cylinder design likely helps with the extra power (over the 85) and better economy.

Disappointing is this body style made the cab slightly smaller than the previous. The seats are more comfortable (XLT package) but the leg and head room is reduced.

Faults:

I had to replace the return power steering line at 104,000 miles.

Replaced the worn tires.

The bed has started to rust above the wheel well.

Replaced one headlight.

General Comments:

All in all the truck is in great shape.

Well taken care of for the last 13 years.

Great deal for $200 cash.

Faults:

What hasn't gone wrong!?

- Just about every single gasket failed in the engine when I bought it, costing about $700 to fix.

- The speedometer got tired of doing it's job right before I got rid of this truck...didn't bother fixing it.

- A/C didn't ever work... never fixed it.

- Accidentally pressed the "4x4" button on the dash, causing the 4-wheel drive to engage and stay engaged until a new shift motor was put in for about $300.

All these problems in 10k miles! Total crap box.

General Comments:

The one and only thing I liked about this truck was its sporty look and comfotable interior. The rest of the truck was junk and poorly designed. It was pathetically slow on the highway. Just to cruise at 70mph the pedal had to be held all the way to the floorboard... super weak on power! First through 3rd gears had pretty good power.

The paint was extremely well cared for, yet it was "micro-checking" anyway... a common Ford paint problem. Gas mileage was OK for a truck. Around 25mpg on the highway.

Considering I only had the truck for 10k miles and had all the problems mentioned above, this truck was a nice looking junk pile!!!

Faults:

Apparently had rebuilt engine when I bought it 4 years / 60K miles ago.

Starter died after 1 year.

Oxygen sensor at 198000 miles.

Used exactly 1 quart oil for every tank of gas.

Starter solenoid has failed 2x in 4 years. (At least it's easy to push start)

It is geared for 55 mph and strains to keep up at 75 even with 5 speed O/D.

Cracked a head at 210,000 miles. But now after head job it doesn't use oil!

It sounds like I'm complaining, but it's been paid for for 2 years and I did not spend over $200 in repairs in the next 2 years!

General Comments:

This has been a very reliable daily driver for me. Just wish I'd gotten an automatic transmission, but they're hard to find.

My 14 year old daughter says it's freaky she loves the truck so much!
