Faults:

So far, when I bought the car to present, I have replaced the tires as expected.

Front wheel bearings.

Brakes.

Rotors.

General Comments:

This truck has amazing handling on the dirt and on curvy roads.

The electronic 4x4 switch doesn't like to disengage sometimes.

Very slow 0-60.

The manual trans is great, except sometimes it is really hard to put into gear.

The cup holders are not good; they don't hold drinks very well.

The cigarette lighter down by the cup holders is in a very awkward place, and interferes with the drink.

It goes through the mud great. The traction in 4x4 is unbelievable.

The manual locking hubs are amazing, because you can use 2 low when pulling a heavy trailer a short distance without toasting your clutch.

Faults:

Replaced electronic 4x4 unit, replaced auto hubs with lockout type, replaced brakes, front ball joints and tie rods, replaced rear spring mounts due to rust problem, rebuilt entire front differential and axle, which wore out, new lockouts that were warrantied and again replaced. Replaced map sensor. Replaced battery.

Things still wrong include remote starter no longer works, alarm goes off sometimes without doors locked, dome light stays on (had to pull no. 27 fuse), door buzzer was stuck, but WD-40 fixed that.

ABS light come on sometimes, cruise control quit working, 4wd drive and 4wd low light come off and on in dash.

Transmission will not go sometimes in Drive without first putting in 2 position.

Wiper spray works sometimes, and not other times.

Metal vacuum line leaked, causing the truck to not idle.

Windshield rubber is coming out of truck. Key can be removed while running, and from time to time, the key chime will ding without a key in.

General Comments:

Right size truck for my needs with good power.

The center console in the middle of the front seat is poorly designed, and hinders lifting the seat forward often, and the latch opens up, but has room for 2 adults and storage behind the seat, or small jump seats that are usable if needed.

I have invested so much into this truck, I cannot replace it or recover the money spent, so I must continue to try to fix what needs fixing.

Faults:

Problems with the interior lights since I bought the truck, never bothered to fix it.

Door ajar light on when I bought the car. WD-40 on the door hinges and it went away.

Needed new rear brakes at 125k, 400 dollar job. They said my rear brakes were saturated in brake fluid and there was a series of leaks.

Truck doesn't always start up on first try, I have no idea why. Cleaned the fuel system, new fuel pump, new spark plugs, new starter, new battery, and still won't start up right away. Especially bad on cold days.

Belt squeals loudly on rainy days, very embarrassing.

Pulls to left under heavy braking, not sure what that's about.

Often times the car struggles to go into gear, I try shifting into first and I have to push it hard into gear. Thought something was wrong with the clutch, but I checked it out and it was fine.

General Comments:

It's a pain in the ass changing the oil in this truck. The oil filter is in such an obnoxious place.

There's a lot of things wrong with this truck, but for what it is, and how old it is, it does what it supposed to do.

The 4 wheel drive works great, and in the winter I got through a foot of snow.

This truck is slow. Very slow. It pulls hard in first and second gear, but as soon as it hits third... forget it. 0-60 takes forever, and when you're really on the gas, fuel economy goes way... way down.

I put some black Crager rims on the truck, and I get a lot of compliments on the looks of the truck.

Overall there's a lot I don't like about this truck. But I've never been a truck guy, and truthfully I only bought this car to learn manual. Speaking of which, it worked out wonderfully, the clutch on this Ranger is very forgiving.

Looking to sell this truck and buy something better on gas.
