Faults:

Besides minor maintenance issues, which are common on, umm say, ALL cars...

-Tranny filter every 2 yrs

-Air filters annually

-Alternator once, huge thing, 100amp $$

-Power Steering pump once, weekend jobber, special tool req'd.

-Air Conditioning: Blew up on the highway in Arizona. I guess it was too much for the poor car. Never got it fixed, I can take the heat ;)

Shocks/Struts gave away shortly after I acquired the car, but that was not due to 'normal' driving conditions. this caused:

-CV Boots to be replaced about a 3-4 years ago.

-CV Axles to fail about 6 mo ago. very messy. $120 for both axles, x4 for the labor.

-Rear brake piston leaked and was replaced.

-Transmission blew and now does not go into any gear higher than '1.'

-Only TRUE gripe is with Ford Dealer Service. Expensive. Amused that I still drove the thing. (They don't think highly of this car.)

General Comments:

This has been a very good car to me. My dad bought it for comfort and driving us kids around, then it was passed onto me. I promptly jumped the car down a hill with some friends coming home from a graduation party. Its been driven cross-country many, many times since then.

Only bad thing was having the tranny go THE NEXT DAY after I had the CV axles replaced. I think that was the repair shops fault, and if it could go faster than 15 mph, I'd drive the thing through their front door.

It's a nice, comfortable car, just get one with a new/rebuilt tranny if its over 130~140k miles or plan for it. someone may have got it airborne at some point who knows...

Faults:

Power steering pump failed about 3,000 miles ago.

Automatic Climate control is wearing down.

Motor Mounts broke at about 196,000 miles.

General Comments:

Look at the outside and it's a rusty piece... but the inside is PERFECT!

The options you get in the car for the year of the car is amazing.

The stiff sporty ride backed with a nice Yamaha powerhouse with a Mazda transmission to transfer the power is a deal.

Faults:

Cracked windshield from heated windshield.

Factory radio just made a bunch of static.

A/C went out, didn't fix.

Wiring harness bad caused an electrical fire with the cooling fan, burned up starter, and ignition switch.

Automatic climate control buttons broke.

Power locks on driver side and rear passenger side broke.

Engine blow head gasket and there was a severe knocking, had to replace the engine.

Had to replace front end parts, ball joints, tie rods, axles, struts.

Had to replace an engine module.

Had to replace the alternator.

Had to replace the starter.

Short circuit in the voltage regulator, almost caused a fire, ruined a battery and had to replace the battery.

Rear window defogger quit working.

Rear wiper would go on automatically.

Locking mechanism for the gas door broke.

3rd gear on the transmission went out, got rid of the car after that.

General Comments:

This car may have been a good car brand new.

Handled horrible on slippery road conditions, even after new tires and alignment.

Nothing but problems with this car.

I spent more time fixing it than driving it.

Faults:

Hmmm...this is a toughie...Let's see! How about?

-AC

-Squeaky brakes

-Tearing upholstery

-Radio

-Raw egg smelling interior

-Locking system

And just about everything else!

General Comments:

I asked for a car, not this piece of crap! One day when I actually get money I'm going to take some dynamite, put it in the engine, and watch the car explode into a million pieces.Then, I'll hack at them with an ax and burn them in a fire! When that's done, I'll mail the pieces to the North Pole and forget about this car completely!
