1999 Ford Taurus

Summary:

This is a car that I don't recommend

Faults:

When I first bought the car, there was a miss in the engine. Fixed that by changing the spark plugs and wires.

Now, my heater is blowing warm air instead of HOT.

General Comments:

I didn't really want the car, but I needed one. My husband owned an 89 Taurus and had nothing but problems. Now that I own a Taurus, I hate it. I haven't flushed anything or taken it to a mechanic yet. I was wanting to get an idea of what could be causing the problem. Now, by reading the comments, some has had good luck and others haven't with flushing the coolant system and everything else. Now I know not to ever buy a Ford product again. I owned a Ford before.

1999 Ford Taurus LX Sedan V6

Summary:

Success story? Quite possibly

Faults:

Only got 15 miles to the gallon with a light foot. No one (myself, Ford mechanics, Autozone, PepBoys, or Midas) could figure out why.

General Comments:

This was the most comfortable car I have ever driven.

The trunk was a joke.

The view out from all sides was second to none.

The climate control was AWESOME!

The radio was AWESOME!

The car handled fine.

The ride was great.

Acceleration was adequate.

Braking was subpar.

The cup holders were not deep enough.

Road noise was about average.

Always started up first try.

The next generation Taurus (2000-2007) was far superior. The one and only reason I traded this car for a newer one was for gas mileage. The new purchase was a gamble, but my next Taurus was a winner! My advice to you: if you want a Taurus, go for a 2000-2007: it is well worth it.

1999 Ford Taurus XL 3.0 liter

Summary:

Ford really screwed up these cars!!!

Faults:

I have a 1999 Ford Tarus and I have this strange issue.

I have no heat in my car, which I have read from many people, but the one thing that I do not see, is that with my car, it overheats, but to the point where it goes to the over Hot line and then usually it will fluctuate and go down. But the strange part is it only overheats when the fan turns on to cool the engine???

I know this is strange. I have never seen a car do exactly the opposite of what it is suppose to do. I looked under the hood, and according to my book I am missing a 40 amp fuse to the blower, could that be this issue, I am almost scared to mess with the central nervous system of the car because of the way it is acting. Some say it might be the water pump, some say head gasket, but have not leakage anywhere on the car and no smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. I am so confused. What else, other than getting rid of the thing, can it be that would cause it to mysteriously overheat but not blow a hose, and then the fan constantly run and not shut off but still overheat?

Please help with any advise.

Thank you.

General Comments:

My car is a good car, just some difficulties, would not recommend buying this make and model of this car because nobody seems to know how to fix them, or pinpoint the problems that seem to exist with the car.

The pickup on the car is terrible and I can just go on and on. But otherwise, she has been good to me for 2 years.

General Comments:

Great family car up until about 120,000km, then it is all downhill from there, with one repair after another.

Not very reliable past 160,000km. Hoping to get another year out of mine, but highly unlikely.
