Faults:

I have a serious rust problem on the left side just in front of the rear tire. I have noticed this on other Fords and a body man told me it was common. I wanted to repair the rust and here is what I was told. To repair the rust I would need to but the whole panel which is about $1200. Then the body-shop would have to cut out the rusted portion, cut off a similar piece from the new panel, and then do the necessary work. Estimated cost about $2000 plus the panel for a total of about $3200.

Has anyone had a similar rust problem and how did you solve it?

Faults:

Seat belts in the back seat drove me crazy because they would work well one time, and not the next time. You can't get them to work consistent, no matter what we tried.

Air conditioning quit this summer, but had it repaired.

General Comments:

This is the 2nd Taurus wagon I've had. I liked the first one, the ride is great when you do a lot of travelling for work or for trips to the cabin etc.

I put over 20,000 kilometers on my car each year, maybe closer to 25,000.

We haul a lot of things, and I like the room also; I often carry 5 passengers in the car so that is another plus.

Regular maintenance helped it stay in good shape, oil changes every 5-8,000 kilometers.

Put snow tires on in winter, so didn't have trouble getting round no slipping and sliding.

Like the way the driver seat can be adjusted with a small motor that enables me to get it just right.

Faults:

I've had 2 sets of brakes in the 175,000 miles. I've also replaced the tires numerous times. Had a full tune-up at 100,000 miles and replaced the struts at around 130,000 miles. All my repairs have been normal mainenance items to keep the car running. Oil changes were performs every 3000-5000 miles. And with 175,000 there have been lots of those...

General Comments:

This car handles wonderfully.

The car rides like a dream.

The leather interior is wearing pretty good considering that it's not garage kept and is over 7 years old.

The defroster I will say though is horrible I've always complained. It won't clear the ice from the windshield and will not melt the ice from the wipers and causes it to build up and makes seeing very difficult.

Faults:

Well since I bought the vehicle the electrical system has gone crazy. today the turning light signals won't work, five minutes later they do. driver side window won't work it just makes a clicking sound, then the day after it will go down, but won't go up, three days later it will go up and stay up for days then it will work fine, until now it just won't work, but it still makes the clicking sound.

And for those who don't have a heater in the car I have a a lot of it. in my case it is the A/C=--i took it twice into the shop and each time it cost 700 dollars!but it will only work one or maybe two days then it stops working.
