1991 Ford Tempo L 2.3

Summary:

Cheap reliable transport

Faults:

Fuel Pressure Regulator at 80,000.

Throttle Position Sensor at 80,000.

Coolant Temperature Sensor at 80,000.

Hood Realese Cable.

Truck lid rusting really bad.

Thermostat at 80,000.

General Comments:

This car is cheap, reliable transportation. It handles really well comparred to my old Fifth Avenue.

However, since I'am a bigger person i.e. height there isn't enough leg or head room to be really comfortable.

This car is not meant for extreme preformance, it's meant to get your from point A to B and that's what it does just fine.

1991 Ford Tempo

Summary:

A oil eater

Faults:

There was nothing wrong with my car when I first bought it. Things started going wrong when I started drive to college. The car burns and leaks oil regularly. I would have to add at least 2 quarts of oil a week. The automatic seat-belts stopped working after I bought it. The passenger side door won't open. The A/C doesn't work. Other than my major oil problem, the car ran well. Overall, I loved my Tempo, but I had so many problems with it.

General Comments:

The Tempo runs well and gets great gas mileage. It handles great.

1991 Ford Tempo GL

Summary:

Overall, my Tempo has been reliable, affordable, comfortable transportation

Faults:

The only major problem I've had with my '91 Tempo was about three years ago with the transmission. The seals began leaking and within a few days the car was useless. A new seal kit was required, which was not cheap. As of July 2004, the seals have begun leaking again.

As of this same date, a tie-rod needs to be replaced and the electronic actuator that controls the air-conditioner has entirely failed.

The paint has almost entirely worn off. This began about 3 years ago with a few areas that looked a little thin. Now, my Tempo looks as though it has terminal skin cancer.

Over the ten years that I've owned my Tempo, I have replaced the alternator twice and the starter once. These are really minor issues and not anything that one should not expect.

General Comments:

For the money this has been a great little car.

The interior has stood up to normal wear very well.

If not for the paint issues, and the transmission problems, I would rate the car as excellent.

1991 Ford Tempo LX 2.3 liter

Summary:

A cheap beater

Faults:

So, far the car has a squeaking sound coming from the belts when I start the car. No big deal.

However, a major problem is the shudder that occurs if I floor it at about 10mph on the speedometer, the car will shudder for half a second.

When cruising on freeway, it feels like it is hovering, needs new shocks.

General Comments:

Overall this car is for someone who has no other choice, but to take the car. the car is alright if you don't want to go on long trips, but otherwise it will take to long to get there because it tops out at around 90mph, maybe a little bit more.

This car handles horribly, definitely no sports car at all. At highway speeds it feels like its bouncy and hovering.

The worst part about this car is the fact that is doesn't have enough power, and it doesn't get very good gas mileage.

If the car had a five speed, it would probably be OK. But in my opinion I would not buy this car. the only reason I'm driving this car is because My friend's grandma gave it to me.

On the other hand it is very durable, it beat the crap out of it rallying it on some logging roads and it still drives the same.

However, there are plenty of other better cars out there that a person can buy for a thousand bucks, or however much the car is worth.

"On the other hand it is very durable, it beat the crap out of it rallying it on some logging roads and it still drives the same. "

You mention this, then you complain about the bad ride and the shuddering when you floor it? You abused it, so you got when you had coming.
